Bills’ Taron Johnson questionable to return vs. Cardinals
#Bills’ Taron Johnson questionable to return vs. #Cardinals: Bills’ Taron Johnson questionable to return vs. Cardinals Nick Wojton The Buffalo Bills are without one of their most important defenders early on against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. During Buffalo’s first drive of the season on defense, Johnson went down with an injury. The team announced that Johnson sustained a forearm problem and is questionable to return: Johnson was spotted being attended to by medical staff on Buffalo’s sideline. The Bills’ top nickel defender had his arm taped but ended up heading to the locker room, according to reports. In Buffalo’s defensive scheme, the nickel position is a full-time starting job. The Bills consistently only lineup with two linebackers which makes Johnson’s loss even larger. Bills Wire will provide updates when information is made available.
Minnesota Vikings at New York Giants: First Quarter Recap and Second Quarter Discussion
Photo by Luke Hales/Getty Images The good guys are on top after the first fifteen minutes We’ve reached the end of the first quarter at MetLife Stadium with the Minnesota Vikings holding a 7-3 lead over the New York Giants in the 2024 NFL season opener. The Giants got the football first in this one, as the Vikings won the toss and chose to defer to the second half. The Vikings’ defense forced a three-and-out on the Giants’ first possession, losing 11 yards in the process, and the purple took over after a Jamie Gillian punt at their own 15-yard line. Unfortunately, the Vikings’ first offensive drive went even worse, as Sam Darnold was sacked by Dexter Lawrence on the second play from scrimmage, and on third down C.J. Ham caught a pass and fumbled it away with the Giants recovering at the Minnesota 20-yard line. Fortunately, the Minnesota defense stood up again, limiting the damage to a 23-yard field goal from Graham Gano to give the home team a 3-0 lead halfway through the quarter. It looked like the Vikings might go three-and-out on their next possession, but a pass interference call on the Giants against Jordan Addison moved the ball into Giants’ territory. Darnold then found Josh Oliver to set up a first-and-goal, and two plays later the Vikings turned it into points courtesy of a 3-yard touchdown run from Aaron Jones. Will Reichard added the extra point and the Vikings took a 7-3 lead with just under four minutes to play in the first quarter. We’re fifteen minutes into the 2024 NFL season opener, and your Minnesota Vikings lead the New York Football Giants by a score of 7-3. Come join us for the second quarter!
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Miami Dolphins Open Live Thread & Game Information
Photo by Perry Knotts/Getty Images Our Miami Dolphins will finally kick off their 2024 season schedule with a game against their interstate rival, the Jacksonville Jaguars. Miami is coming off another season that saw them make it to the postseason, but the rash of injuries, especially on the defensive side of the ball, took their toll on the team down the stretch. The issues caused by the injuries carried over to the postseason, seeing the Dolphins go one and done for the second year in a row in an ugly and unreasonably cold loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead. Miami will be looking to stay healthier through this season and achieve a record that will hopefully provide them with a playoff game or games at home. The Jacksonville Jaguars are looking for a bounce-back season following their disappointing 2023 season. After starting the season with an eight-and-three record in their first eleven games, the Jags dropped five of their final six games, killing their playoff hopes. As Miami did with starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, the Jaguars also gave their starting quarterback, Trevor Lawerence, a massive new deal this past offseason. In comparison, Tua was handed a 212 million dollar 4-year contract extension, while Trevor was given a 275 million dollar 5-year extension. Jaguars vs. Dolphins inactive players in Week 1: Jalen Ramsey ready to play
Photo by Perry Knotts/Getty Images The Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars released their inactive players lists for today’s Week 1 showdown. The Miami Dolphins have released their inactive players list for their Week 1 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and good news is coming with the list. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who was listed as questionable on the team’s injury report, is active for the game. The Dolphins did not elevate a practice squad cornerback earlier this week, indicating they expected Ramsey to be available, but now it is official. The team must feel good about Ramsey’s availability, with cornerback Ethan Bonner included on the inactive list. Also inactive for Miami are running back Jaylen Wright, linebacker Channing Tindall, linebacker Mohamed Kamara, offensive lineman Andrew Meyer, and wide receiver Malik Washington. Washington had been ruled out of the game on the Friday injury report as he deals with a quadriceps injury; the other players listed are all healthy scratches from the game as the team reduces their 53-man roster to the 48 players allowed on game day. Also active for the Dolphins is wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who was detained by police shortly before the game for a traffic violation but was released and reported to the stadium. The Jaguars side of the inactive list includes safety Daniel Thomas, offensive lineman Javon Foster, offensive lineman Cole Can Lanen, defensive tackle Esezi Otomewo, defensive tackle Jordan Jefferson, and defensive tackle Jeremiah Ledbetter. The team ruled out Thomas on Saturday as he deals with an Achilles injury. Kickoff for the Jaguars and Dolphins is at 1 p.m. Eastern today from Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium.

Giants injury news: Punt returner Gunner Olszewski out with groin injury
Photo by Mike Lawrence/Getty Images The Giants suffer their first injury of the regular season The New York Giants suffered their first injury of the 2024 regular season as receiver and special teams ace Gunner Olszewski has been ruled out with a groin injury. The injury was suffered during warm-ups prior to kick-off of the Giants Week 1 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Olszewski originally suffered a groin injury in the Giants’ second preseason game against the Houston Texans and he had been working his way back from the injury since then. He was listed as having practiced on a limited basis during the week leading up to this game. The injury is likely a re-injury and a setback in his recovery but is being reported as an “injury” at this time. It remains to be seen who will take over for Olszewski as the primary returner, though receivers Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson are listed as the second and third-team returners on the Giants’ official depth chart. The team could also turn to rookie running back Tyrone Tracy, who’s listed as the fourth returner.

NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 1 Games
Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images Which bets do you like the most? Before the first Sunday of the 2024 NFL regular season kicks off, let’s have some fun by taking a look at the lines for the Week 1 games. You can CLICK HERE for straight up NFL picks without regard to the spread. You can find all of the NFL betting lines via FanDuel. My overall record last season was 153-124-8, which was a little behind the collective BGN community at 156-121-8. Let’s see if you can beat me once again. Here are suggestions when trying to beat the odds. NFL WEEK 1 GAMES TENNESSEE TITANS at CHICAGO BEARS (-3.5): The Bears are on the rise, in part because getting rid of Justin Fields is big-time addition by subtraction. Caleb Williams is going to be good. PICK: Bears -3.5 PITTSBURGH STEELERS at ATLANTA FALCONS (-4.5): I don’t love putting faith in Kirk Cousins. Or betting against Mike Tomlin as an underdog. But I do like fading Fields. If there anyone who could ruin the Steelers’ non-losing season streak, it’s Fields. PICK: Falcons -4.5 JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS at MIAMI DOLPHINS (-3.5): Tyreek Hill getting arrested on his way to the game is certainly a weird vibe. I think the Dolphins still win but the Jags will keep it competitive. PICK: Jaguars +3.5 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at CINCINNATI BENGALS (-7.5): Jacoby Brissett looked pretty terrible when I watched the Eagles and Pats practice this summer. So did New England’s offensive line. PICK: Bengals -7.5 HOUSTON TEXANS (-3) at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: The Texans seem to be on the rise. Anthony Richardson is still a question mark. PICK: Texans -3 MINNESOTA VIKINGS (-1.5) at NEW YORK GIANTS: The Giants’ offensive line is still a question mark. They do not deserve benefit of the doubt. PICK: Vikings -1.5 CAROLINA PANTHERS at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (-3.5): Gotta see something from Bryce Young before I can give the Panthers any kind of benefit of the doubt. PICK: Saints -3.5 ARIZONA CARDINALS at BUFFALO BILLS (-6.5): The Bills had a curious offseason. Josh Allen is quite capable of carrying his team but I don’t know if it’ll be pretty against a Cards team that might be more mediocre than flat out bad. PICK: Cardinals +6.5 LAS VEGAS RAIDERS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (-3): Jim Harbaugh wins. And I’m not putting faith in the Raiders’ quarterback situation. PICK: Chargers -3 DENVER BRONCOS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (-6.5): I think Geno Smith and the Seahawks are getting more benefit of the doubt than they deserve. Sean Payton, while unlikable, still might be a pretty good coach. PICK: Broncos +6.5 DALLAS COWBOYS at CLEVELAND BROWNS (-2.5): Deshaun Watson stinks and he’s playing without his starting left tackle. The Cowboys should be favored here; this is my Lock Of The Week pick. PICK: Cowboys +2.5 WASHINGTON COMMANDERS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (-3.5): The Bucs finished strong but were pretty bad at times last year. The Commanders might be slept on a little bit. PICK: Commanders +3.5 LOS ANGELES RAMS at DETROIT LIONS (-4.5): Give me Dan Campbell, who plays to win, over the cowardly Sean McVay any day. PICK: -Lions 4.5 NEW YORK JETS at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (-3.5): The Niners have a history of owning Aaron Rodgers. PICK: 49ers -3.5
