Minnesota Vikings at Jacksonville Jaguars: Inactive Lists for Both Teams
Bill Streicher-Imagn Images Let’s see who will be sitting out of this one We’re a little less than ninety minutes away from kicking things off in Jacksonville between the Minnesota Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars, and that means both teams have released their inactive lists for today’s contest. Let’s take a look at who will be sitting out of this one. Minnesota Vikings OL Dan Feeney CB Dwight McGlothern CB Fabian Moreau DL Levi Drake Rodriguez OT Walter Rouse QB Brett Rypien (emergency QB) No surprises on the inactive list for the Vikings, but linebackers Blake Cashman and Ivan Pace Jr. are both “up” for this one after being listed as questionable on Friday’s final injury report. All hands on deck for the purple in this one. Jacksonville Jaguars OL Ezra Cleveland DE Myles Cole QB Trevor Lawrence DL Esezi Otomewo DT Maason Smith It will, in fact, be the Mac Jones Experience™ for Jacksonville today with Lawrence inactive. With that, there aren’t any real surprises on the injury report for the Jaguars this afternoon, either. Those are your inactive lists for today’s game, ladies and gentlemen. We’ll have the first discussion thread of the afternoon ready to go at around 11:30 AM Central, and we hope that you’ll join us for today’s game.
Detroit Lions announce 2024 Thanksgiving halftime show artist
Photo by Scott Legato/Getty Images The Thanksgiving halftime show performer for the 2024 Detroit Lions game has been announced. On Sunday morning, the Detroit Lions announced that Shaboozey will be the halftime act for their 2024 Thanksgiving Day classic game—the 85th game of the Lions’ tradition. Shaboozey doesn’t have any Detroit ties, but he is a six-time Grammy nominee. He sprung into the spotlight recently as a collaborator with Beyonce on her latest album “Cowboy Carter.” Shaboozey mixes hip-hop and country, and is likely most known for his hit single “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” The Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game is scheduled for Thursday, November 28 at 12:30 p.m. ET. They’ll be facing the Chicago Bears and it will be aired nationally on CBS. Last year, Jack Harlow performed for the Lions halftime Thanksgiving show. Previous artists for the show include Bebe Rexha, Big Sean, Kid Rock, and Nickelback among many others. The Lions have lost seven straight games on Thanksgiving. Their last win was a thrilling 16-13 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
NFL Week 10 rooting guide: Best outcomes for Lions playoff standings
Photo by Scott W. Grau/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Our Detroit Lions rooting guide is back! Here are the best possible outcomes for Week 10 and how it’ll impact the NFC playoff picture. We’re officially into the double digits with Week 10 of the 2024 NFL season, and that means it’s time to start thinking about the playoffs. The Detroit Lions enter the week atop the NFC with a 7-1 record. Clearly, the goal right now is to not only win the division but capture the conference’s No. 1 seed and earn that first-round bye. In order to do that, the Lions need to keep winning, but it also wouldn’t hurt to get some help from other teams. So let’s take a look at what other outcomes matter in the official return of our Detroit Lions Rooting Guide. Patriots (2-7) vs. Bears (4-4) — 1 p.m. ET (FOX) Root for: Patriots The Bears are on a two-game skid, and this is—by far—their easiest remaining game. If they drop this one to the lowly Patriots, you may as well kiss their playoff chances goodbye. Here are their remaining games: vs. Packers, vs. Vikings, at Lions, at 49ers, at Vikings, vs. Lions, vs. Seahawks, at Packers. Falcons (6-3) at Saints (2-7) — 1 p.m. ET (FOX) Root for: Saints The Saints are dead after losing seven straight, firing their head coach this week. If they can get the interim head coach bump against the Falcons, it would serve the Lions well. The Falcons are in the driver’s seat in the NFC South, not only because of their two-game lead in the division but also because they’re 4-0 in divisional play. In other words, the Falcons are almost certainly going to finish with a top-four seed and could be a sneaky challenger for the top seed. 49ers (4-4) at Buccaneers (4-5) — 1 p.m. ET (FOX) Root for: Buccaneers It seems odd to root for the one team who has the tiebreaker of the Lions, but the Buccaneers seem like they’re in a lot of trouble with their injury situation, and Detroit would have to finish the season 5-4 at best for the Bucs to even have a chance to catch them. Instead, there’s at least a minor concern that the 49ers could turn things around now that they’re getting healthier (Christian McCaffrey returns this week). Steelers (6-2) at Commanders (7-2) — 1 p.m. ET (CBS) Root for: Steelers Maybe the most important game of the week for Detroit fans. The Commanders are this year’s surprise team, and they’re just a half-game behind the Lions right now for the one seed. Given Washington does not have a tough schedule ahead (games vs. Cowboys X2, Titans, and Saints), it would be nice for them to start accumulating some losses to give the Lions some breathing room atop the conference. Vikings (6-2) at Jaguars (2-7) — 1 p.m. ET (FOX) Root for: Jaguars Probably not a lot of hope in rooting for the Jaguars here, since Trevor Lawrence is not expected to play. But it sure would be a nice shock to the Vikings’ system to lose to one of the worst teams in the league. Eagles (6-2) at Cowboys (3-5) — 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS) Root for: Cowboys Speaking of terrible teams, the Cowboys are dead ever since Detroit’s massacre in Week 6. With Dak Prescott out for the year, their season is hopeless. So if they could just take down an Eagles team that is right on the Commanders’ heels, that would be great. Chris Christie would be proud. Jets (3-6) at Cardinals (5-4) — 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS) Root for: Jets The Cardinals aren’t likely a big threat to Detroit, given the Lions have a 2.5-game lead and the head-to-head tiebreaker. Still, they’re playing decent football right now and surprisingly lead the NFC West. Always root for AFC over NFC, even if it means rooting for…. that quarterback. Dolphins (2-6) at Rams (4-4) — Monday, 8:15 p.m. ET (ESPN) Root for: Dolphins The Rams have won three in a row, and look to be serious contenders for the NFC West crown. Again, the Lions have a commanding three-game + tiebreaker lead over the Rams, so they aren’t the biggest threat to Detroit. But it’s another AFC over NFC situation. If all of the preferred outcomes above happen, combined with a Lions win over the Texans, here’s what the NFC playoff standings would look like: NFC North Lions: 8-1 Vikings: 6-3 Packers: 6-3 Bears: 4-5 A two-game lead with eight games left would be pretty nice heading into the final two months of the season. Remember, Detroit also holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Vikings and Packers, although they can still even that up later in the season. NFC playoff standings: Division leaders Lions: 8-1 Commanders: 7-3 Falcons: 6-4 Cardinals: 5-5 Wild Card standings 5. Vikings: 6-36. Eagles: 6-37. Packers: 6-3 8. Buccaneers; 5-5t-9. Bears: 4-5t-9. Rams: 4-5t-9. Seahawks: 4-5t-9. Cowboys: 4-5 No extra commentary needed. That looks gooooooooooooooood.

Eagles vs. Cowboys Week 10 game preview and predictions
Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images How are you feeling about this matchup? The Dallas Cowboys are on the brink. They’ve lost three straight. Dak Prescott is reportedly out for the season. Mike McCarthy is a dead man walking. They’re likely done for. And now it’s up to the Philadelphia Eagles to take advantage. Leave no doubt. The Birds must dominate this team from the jump and build a big enough lead to pull their starters early. They should be able to do it. Cooper Rush had success filling in for Prescott back in 2022, yes, but his supporting cast was MUCH better then. The Cowboys’ run game isn’t what it used to be and neither is their defense. Rush will be tasked to carry the Cowboys with his arm, which doesn’t seem like a recipe for Dallas success. Only one defense is allowing more points this season than Mike Zimmer’s group. That unit should not be able to provide serious resistance. Micah Parsons has the potential to wreck a game, yes, but the Eagles have been able to neutralize him in the past. And he might not be 100% in this one after missing four straight games. The feeling here is that the Eagles are primed to make a statement. Time for them to deliver their first win in JerryWorld since 2017. For more, check out BGN’s weekly NFL game predictions and NFL picks against the spread. NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 10 Games
Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images Which bets do you like the most? Before the tenth Sunday of the 2024 NFL regular season kicks off, let’s have some fun by taking a look at the lines for the Week 10 games. You can CLICK HERE for straight up NFL picks without regard to the spread. You can find all of the NFL betting lines via FanDuel. My overall record is 68-68-2, which is well behind the collective BGN community at 78-58-2. But isn’t it impressive how I’ve managed to go exactly .500 so far? Here are suggestions when trying to beat the odds. NFL WEEK 10 PICKS AGAINST THE SPREAD NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at CHICAGO BEARS (-6.5): The Pats have put forth good effort lately and the Bears aren’t easy to trust with Caleb Williams struggling. But Chicago did previously manage to beat up on some bottom feeders. PICK: Bears -6.5 BUFFALO BILLS (-4.5) at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: The Bills are rolling. The Colts are not. PICK: Bills -4.5 MINNESOTA VIKINGS (-7) at JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Don’t like Mac Jones’ chances going up against Brian Flores. PICK: Vikings -7 DENVER BRONCOS at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (-7.5): The Chiefs will probably win but I think they might actually lose. At the very least, they often don’t win comfortably. PICK: Broncos +7.5 ATLANTA FALCONS (-3.5) at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: The Saints are banged up and Kirk Cousins has a track record of taking care of business against the bad teams. PICK: Falcons -3.5 SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (-6.5) at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: Really like the 49ers in this spot. They’re coming off their bye while the Bucs are coming off a Monday night OT road loss. Tampa is banged up and the Niners are getting Christian McCaffrey back. PICK: 49ers -6.5 PITTSBURGH STEELERS at WASHINGTON COMMANDERS (-2.5): I suspect I’m higher on the Russell Wilson Steelers than most but I’m not picking against Washington right now. The Commanders have great vibes going on. PICK: Commanders -2.5 TENNESSEE TITANS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (-7.5): The Chargers will win but they don’t score enough to cover this spread. PICK: Titans +7.5 NEW YORK JETS (-1.5) at ARIZONA CARDINALS: Fishy line. The Cards getting points at home feels too good to be true. The Jets will win. PICK: Jets -1.5 PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (-7.5) at DALLAS COWBOYS: The Eagles are going to stomp the Cowboys. PICK: Eagles -7.5 DETROIT LIONS (-3.5) at HOUSTON TEXANS: With just one more point scored than they’ve allowed this season, the Texans should be on fraud watch. Also, the Lions have been a juggernaut. PICK: Lions -3.5 MIAMI DOLPHINS at LOS ANGELES RAMS (-1.5): The Rams have something cooking much more than the Dolphins do. PICK: Rams -1.5
The Linc – Kellen Moore might “have some tricks up his sleeve” against the Cowboys
Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 11/10/24. Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links … Eagles’ Kellen Moore returns to Dallas, still a PowerPoint wiz and meticulous whisperer of offenses – The AthleticAs Moore returns to Texas for the first time since his 2023 departure, it’s worth revisiting his roots. The traits that launched Moore’s early success are still what make him a cunning coordinator, those who coached and played with him say. Some still believe he’ll be a head coach one day. They remember a quiet coach whose mischief manifested in trick plays, a fastidious film junkie who still gets others hooked. They recognize the son of a high school coach’s familial investment into Eagles players like Saquon Barkley, and they don’t downplay the significance of Moore calling plays against his former team. “I’m pretty sure he’s going to be pretty excited to play them,” said Skip Peete, who coached running backs with Moore in Dallas. “I guarantee he’s going to have some tricks up his sleeve.” 5 things to watch when the Cowboys host the Eagles on Sunday – Blogging The Boys1. KELLEN’S REVENGE. In three of his four seasons as the Cowboys offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore’s squad finished top six in points, with the only exception being the 2020 season when they lost Dak Prescott for most of the year. Twice as OC, the Cowboys were the absolute best in offensive yards. Love him or hate him, his record in Dallas was quite impressive. Moore is now leading the Eagles offense who is inside the top 10 in net passing and rushing yards per attempt. Moore likes to confuse defenses and is notorious for using a lot of motion. The Eagle’s motion rate of 58.6% is their highest since 2018 (courtesy of NextGenStats). Don’t be surprised if the former Cowboys’ coach has a few wrinkles up his sleeve as he’ll have his guys zagging when you expect them to zig. The Eagles have passed their midterm – BGNThe Eagles are 6-2. That is good. #Analysis. But seriously, that’s really good. As Bill Parcells said, you are what your record says you are, and the Eagles record says they are Super Bowl contenders. Eagles notebook: “COOOOOOOPPPPPP!!!!” – NBCSPThe first time he heard it, Cooper DeJean was pretty confused. He was still just a sophomore at Iowa when the fans in Iowa City began a chant that followed him the rest of his college career: “COOOOOOOPPPPPP!!!!” “The first time they did it in college, I thought they were booing me,” DeJean said this week, “and then I figured it out.” So when he heard the same chant at the Linc on Sunday, he knew what it was immediately. It was an acknowledgement from the loyal Eagles fans watching the 28-23 win over the Jaguars. “Yeah, it was cool,” DeJean said. Eagles fans began chanting his name for his first punt return but it wasn’t very loud. Those chants got louder with each punt after and were very loud when he forced a turnover on downs with a pass breakup on 4th-and-1. NFL awards at midseason: Picks for MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and more – NFL.comNAME TO WATCH: Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles’ marquee free-agent addition has been as good as advertised as a multi-faceted playmaker from the backfield. Barkley’s ability to produce big plays as a runner and receiver forces opponents to tweak their game plans to account for the dynamic back’s whereabouts at all times. With 1,071 scrimmage yards and eight total touchdowns, the 27-year-old could swipe the award with a series of strong performance down the stretch. Game Preview: Eagles vs. Cowboys – PE.comQB Jalen Hurts is playing with supreme confidence. He looks so good out there, doesn’t he? Hurts is in total command and he will have his entire receiving arsenal available, including tight end Dallas Goedert. Handling him, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith is a large assignment for the Cowboys’ defense, and if the Eagles can win on first and second down and then keep it to third-and-manageable situations for Hurts, it could be a very good night for the offense. If the Eagles let Parsons take over, it will be very, very tough for the Eagles against a desperate Dallas squad. NFL fines Jaguars player after hit that Eagles player said could have ended his season – NJ.comJaguars safety Andrew Cisco was fined $11,817 for his hit on Eagles left tackle Fred Johnson. The fine is consistent for a player who is receiving his first offense for that type of infraction. During the third quarter, as quarterback Jalen Hurts ran toward the end zone, Cisco approached as if attempting to tackle Hurts. Instead, Cisco dove at Johnson’s knees, knocking him to the ground as Hurts completed the 18-yard touchdown run. Cisco was flagged for unnecessary roughness, and the Eagles attempted a two-point conversion that failed. Johnson walked off the field and was examined by medical staff before returning for the rest of the game. Washington Commanders Roster Moves: Zane Gonzalez elevated from practice squad; Austin Seibert OUT – Hogs HavenThe Washington Commanders announced several roster moves as injuries continue to add up. UDFA rookie TE Colson Yankoff has been placed on injured reserve. He had been ruled out for this week’s game with a hamstring injury. That opened up a spot on the 53-man roster to sign RB Chris Rodriguez from the practice squad. He was elevated last week, and had his best game as a pro. That was his third elevation this season, and he needed to be signed to be active. Starter Brian Robinson Jr is missing his second game in a row with a hamstring injury. Kicker Austin Seibert was questionable with a right hip injury, and he has now been downgraded to out. It was reported yesterday that the team was signing Zane Gonzalez to the practice squad, and the team made that official today. They elevated

Florio: Bengals didn’t intend to extend Chase in 2024; contract talks were “uglier than anyone realizes”
Albert Cesare/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images If this is true, then things really haven’t changed very much after all. The Cincinnati Bengals and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who once again delivered a Madden-like performance on Thursday Night Football, couldn’t reach a contract extension before the season began, leading to Chase’s “hold-in,” which kept him out of preseason action. Despite the contractual standoff, Chase’s on-field performance hasn’t suffered. Heading into Week 10, he leads all receivers in nearly every major category. He’s on pace to finish the season with career highs: 119 receptions, 1,766 yards, and 18 touchdowns. This puts him in contention for AP Offensive Player of the Year and, with a bit of luck, could even place him in the conversation as one of the rare non-quarterback candidates for NFL MVP. According to NFL analyst Mike Florio, however, the Bengals might have mishandled the situation, allegedly stringing Chase along with no intention of extending him this season. Instead, they planned all along to pay him a relatively modest $4.8 million for 2024, making any negotiations feel more like a formality than a genuine attempt to secure a long-term extension. Florio further highlighted that things were far uglier behind the scenes than they appeared. “Behind the scenes, it was uglier than anyone realizes, with fights over fines and a belief by Chase that they’d broken their promise to pay him by offering a contract that looked good on the surface but that had a very bad structure,” Florio reported. This season hasn’t gone as hoped, and at 4-6, the Bengals face a steep uphill battle to salvage the second half. While it’s not impossible with Burrow, Chase, and a potent offense, the road will be tough. With the talent on this roster, things should have been more straightforward. Beyond the numbers, Chase’s relationship with the team is crucial for the Bengals’ future. Their offensive success hinges on the connection between Burrow and Chase, which is why the front office should carefully consider the long-term impact of its approach. Keeping Chase happy and appreciated isn’t just essential for the team’s success but also for maintaining the loyalty of a fan base that idolizes him. Contract negotiations are part of NFL business, but the Brown/Blackburn family’s track record hasn’t always inspired confidence among players or around the league. If they’re serious about bringing a Lombardi Trophy to Cincinnati, they’ll need to show players, fans, and the NFL as a whole that they’re committed to a new era of meaningful, trustworthy relationships with their stars.
