Photo by Alex Slitz/Getty Images Predicting which Detroit Lions players could be in for a big game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Detroit Lions are predicted to be big winners in Week 11. They’re currently 13.5-point favorites over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and it’s easy to see why. Not only is this a matchup between an 8-1 Lions team and a 2-8 Jaguars team, but there are some matchups that seriously tilt in Detroit’s favor. For example, the Lions rank third in passer rating (106.7) while the Jaguars pass defense ranks 32nd in passer rating allowed (106.2). Could that mean a huge bounceback game for Jared Goff after his five-interception performance last week? Is Jameson Williams in for a huge game, as our own Brandon Knapp predicted earlier in the week? Or is the Lions’ defense in for a big game? The Jaguars are going to be without starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence and their No. 1 running back Tank Bigsby. Is Detroit’s ball-hawking secondary going to come up big with a couple of turnovers? Could Za’Darius Smith make a huge debut after being traded to the Lions last week? Today’s Question of the Day is: Which Lions player is in for a big game against the Jaguars? My answer: I’m going to go with Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs. While the Jaguars have a respectable run defense—ranking 10th in yards per carry allowed (4.3) and 12th in run defense DVOA—I think this could be the game where Gibbs breaks out as a receiver. The Jaguars play a ton of man coverage, which could mean seeing Gibbs lined up one-on-one with a linebacker. How has that worked out for the Jaguars so far this season? Not particularly well. They rank 27th in DVOA given up to running backs in the passing game and allowed the fourth-most yardage in the receiving game to running backs (46.3 yards per game). This season, the Lions rank eighth in the NFL in receiving yards by running backs (44.9 YPG) and Gibbs has exactly half of Detroit’s output (22.4 YPD). While that production has been relatively low as of late (four catches, 54 yards in the last three games), I think this could be a breakout game for him. Detroit has been wanting to get him involved in the passing game more for a while, and this is the matchup to try it out more. Gibbs’ most receiving yards in an NFL game is just 59. Don’t be surprised if he sets a new career high on Sunday. Who do you think could be in for a breakout game against the Jaguars? The Linc – Eagles might have the NFL’s best defense
Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 11/17/24. Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links … Number One – Iggles BlitzJayden Daniels, meet Vic Fangio. And Jalen Carter and Zack Baun and Quinyon Mitchell. The electric rookie quarterback looked powerless against the surging Eagles defense on Thursday night. After the win over Washington, the Eagles have the number one defense in the NFL in terms of yards allowed. The Eagles haven’t finished a season number one since Gang Green back in 1991. Heck, I don’t know the last time the Eagles were number one in the middle of a season. We’ve seen a lot of good defenses since 1991, but being #1 is special. It will be fun to see if the guys can keep it up. One of the complaints some people had is that the Eagles hadn’t played many good offenses. Washington is a Top 5 scoring team even after the Eagles loss. They had scored 27 or more points in 6 of the 10 games leading up to Thursday night. Washington had all their OL back. They had RB Brian Robinson back. What they didn’t have was an answer for how to solve the Eagles defense. Another huge defensive stand propels Eagles to a key win – NBCSPAfter the Eagles’ stop on fourth down, the offense got the ball back and eventually scored on the first Saquon Barkley touchdown. After a Jayden Daniels interception from Reed Blankenship, Barkley punched in another long touchdown run and the game was basically over. It went from the Eagles’ clinging to a two-point lead to ballgame in a few minutes. And it really all started with that huge fourth-down stop. “Our defense is great with awareness right now,” C.J. Gardner-Johnson said. “We’re hitting on all cylinders. We’re hitting on all the little things after the practice. You guys have been at practice, you see how hard Nick coaches on us on certain situations and stuff. It’s fun when every week a new guy makes a play to help the team win a game. “That 4th-down stop was a testament to the whole defense. Heard a lot of noise all week. The most physical team and the most disciplined team came out and won the game and that 4th-down stop was all about discipline more than just physical will. It’s just wanting a stop and there’s a lot of ball left. Just put the game on our shoulders and go win the game.” Eagles rooting guide for Week 11 games – BGNJACKSONVILLE JAGUARS at DETROIT LIONS: The Jags are 13.5-point road underdogs, so, this would be a massive upset. But it’d be great to see Doug Pederson help his former team. The Eagles need the Lions to lose in order to catch up to Detroit for the No. 1 seed. Root for the Jaguars. Radio Part 1: It’s Time To Talk Super Bowl – Go Birds PodcastJames Seltzer and Eliot Shorr-Parks are joined by Brandon Lee Gowton to talk about the Eagles’ six-game winning streak. Could Saquon Barkley make a late MVP run? – PFTIt becomes intriguing if the Eagles earn the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Would quarterback Jalen Hurts be the de facto MVP candidate from Philly, or would it be Barkley? Throw in the fact that the voters now rank five names for MVP, and Barkley could pull an inside straight if he’s the consensus No. 2 and the voters split the No. 1 between the quarterback from the top seed in the AFC and the quarterback from the top seed in the NFC. Regardless, Barkley is going to have to go off more, even more than he has, to get serious consideration. The current pace would put him at No. 10 on the all-time single-season rushing list and 12th in single-season yards from scrimmage. Maybe he’ll turn it up another notch or two. Maybe, in the same way he gets stronger as a game goes on, he’ll get stronger as the season goes on. For now, however, it’s a little early to get on the train. As evidenced by the betting odds. Eagles rookie sticking WRs like ‘white on rice’ could make team history with his stellar play – NJ.comMitchell has also drawn praise from Thursday Night Football analyst Richard Sherman, a three-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowler who was part of the Seahawks’ famed “Legion of Boom.” Sherman sees a bright future for the young cornerback. “Quinyon Mitchell was on Terry McLaurin like white on rice,” Sherman said on the Thursday Night Football postgame show. “You can tell he cared about this matchup and took pride in it. When you’re young, these are the battles you live for, and that’s why they drafted him so high. He’s going to make this defense complete. He’s a big reason why they’re so effective against the pass. They believe in him, and I think he’s developing into something special. I did tell him he needs to start catching footballs, but other than that, he’s great.” Nick Sirianni Postgame Locker Room Speech: Commanders – PE.comIn a span of five days, the Eagles defeated two NFC East opponents to seize first place in the division. NFL Picks Against the Spread: Week 11 Games
Photo by Elsa/Getty Images Which bets do you like the most? Before the eleventh Sunday of the 2024 NFL regular season kicks off, let’s have some fun by taking a look at the lines for the Week 11 games. You can CLICK HERE for straight up NFL picks without regard to the spread. You can find all of the NFL betting lines via FanDuel. My overall record is 71-79-2, which is well behind the collective BGN community at 83-67-2. I’ve been riding the struggle bus. Here are suggestions when trying to beat the odds. NFL WEEK 11 PICKS AGAINST THE SPREAD JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS at DETROIT LIONS (-13.5): Seven of the Jags’ games this season have been decided by one score. And they’re 1-6 straight up in those. The Jags have been unlucky and they’re due for some good fortune here. PICK: Jaguars +13.5 GREEN BAY PACKERS (-5.5) at CHICAGO BEARS: The Bears have lost four straight games. They’re bad. The Packers are well-rested coming off their bye. PICK: Packers -5.5 LOS ANGELES RAMS (-3.5) at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: Interesting. Doesn’t seem like a great situation for the Rams since they’re a West Coast team making a 1:00 PM start across the country … while coming off short rest from playing on Monday. The Pats don’t quite have the horses to be great but they have been feisty. PICK: Patriots +3.5 CLEVELAND BROWNS (-1.5) at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: The Saints’ win last week was a classic case of the immediate interim head coach bump. They’ll fall back to Earth here. Plus, I think Jameis Winston’s teammates like him and want him to get a win against his former squad. And Cleveland is coming off their bye. PICK: Browns -1.5 MINNESOTA VIKINGS (-5.5) at TENNESSEE TITANS: Sam Darnold is turning back into a pumpkin and he’s going up against a solid defense. But Will Levis has been pretty brutal. Brian Flores can probably force him into some turnovers. PICK: Vikings -5.5 INDIANAPOLIS COLTS at NEW YORK JETS (-3.5): The Jets are so bad, man. Putting any trust in them feels foolish. Maybe Anthony Richardson’s benching will help him play better? PICK: Colts +3.5 LAS VEGAS RAIDERS at MIAMI DOLPHINS (-7): The Dolphins have been much more competent since Tua Tagovailoa’s return. The Raiders have been more bad than good. PICK: Dolphins -7 BALTIMORE RAVENS (-3) at PITTSBURGH STEELERS: You’d have to be insane to bet against Mike Tomlin as a home underdog. He’s 19-6-3 against the spread in those situations since he was hired in 2007. No team has a better cover percentage in that span. PICK: Steelers +3 SEATTLE SEAHAWKS at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (-6.5): The Seahawks are an unserious team that can’t hang with the big boys. The Niners may have found their footing after winning their last two. PICK: 49ers -6.5 ATLANTA FALCONS at DENVER BRONCOS (-1.5): The Broncos rank better than the Falcons in DVOA and point differential. Denver should be favored by more. This is a steal. PICK: Broncos -1.5 KANSAS CITY CHIEFS at BUFFALO BILLS (-2.5): I’m not believing the Chiefs lose until I see it happen. I’ll take Patrick Mahomes getting points all day. PICK: Chiefs +2.5 CINCINNATI BENGALS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS (-1.5): The Bengals are more rested coming off their mini-bye. They’re a better team than their record indicates and that much has to eventually translate into more wins. Getting Tee Higgins back should help. PICK: Bengals +1.5 HOUSTON TEXANS (-7.5) at DALLAS COWBOYS: The Cowboys are ass. PICK: Texans -7.5
Rams call up 2 from practice squad
Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images The Rams called up Jonah Williams and Geron Christian to play against the Patriots The Los Angeles Rams activated two players from the practice squad on Saturday, calling up defensive end Jonah Williams and tackle Geron Christian to be ready to face the New England Patriots on Sunday. The Rams need more reinforcements on the offensive line with Joe Noteboom doubtful and Rob Havenstein already ruled out for another game, so Christian will be the next person up after Warren McClendon. The 28-year-old Christian is in his seventh NFL season after previously having played for the Commanders, Texans, Chiefs, and Browns. He was also active for the Rams in Week 2, playing two special teams snaps against the Cardinals. Williams is in his fourth NFL season, starting his career in 2021 with the Rams as an undrafted free agent. He will be active for the fifth time this season. Hill rushing stats and trends Hill records 11.7 rushing yards per game, 5.2 more than Sunday’s over/under. He has gained over 6.5 yards on the ground in five of 10 games so far this season. Hill has failed to go over his season-long rushing yards prop average (12.0) by 0.3 yards per game. Hill went over on his rushing yards prop bet total in five of his 10 opportunities this year (50.0%). He has not scored a rushing TD through 10 games. Ravens vs. Steelers stats and trends The Steelers have the NFL’s fourth-ranked defense against the run, allowing 87.1 yards per game. This week Hill will face the NFL’s 19th-ranked pass defense (215.6 yards allowed per game). While the Ravens rank worst in the NFL in passing defense with 294.9 passing yards allowed per game, it’s been a different situation offensively, as they rank third-best in the NFL (257.6 passing yards per game). The Ravens have been shining on both sides of the ball in the running game, ranking best in rushing offense (182.6 rushing yards per game) and best in rushing defense (73 rushing yards allowed per game). The Ravens rank 26th in yards per play allowed this season (6), but they’ve been playing really well on the offensive side of the ball, ranking best in the NFL with 7.2 yards per play. Deebo Samuel rips Bengals over Ja’Marr Chase contract
Albert Cesare/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images He isn’t wrong. The Cincinnati Bengals and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase weren’t able to come to terms on a long-term contract extension this offseason. With negotiations going all the way up until hours before kickoff during Week 1, the two weren’t able to come to terms. Now in mid-November, Chase is in the middle of the best season of his entire career. Chase leads the NFL in receptions, yards, and touchdowns for a wide receiver and is on pace to win the “triple crown” this season. With a performance like this, the price for Chase’s services is likely going to be higher than it was in August, so the Bengals may have done themselves a disservice. San Francisco 49ers star receiver shared the same sentiment during an interview with Bleacher Report. He sounded shocked that the Bengals didn’t give Chase the contract he was asking for. “It’s definitely not a great idea now with him playing the way he’s playing,” Samuel said. “He was already doing this. That’s the thing. And it’s like, all right, you can make him mad, which is obviously not what you wanted to do…now you’re gonna have another problem this offseason.” With each eye-popping performance out of “Uno,” the optics on the whole situation just get worse and worse for the Bengals. After his 264-yard, three-touchdown performance, even his agent weighed in. he keeps making my job easier lmao — caitlin aoki (@caitlinaoki13) November 8, 2024 Chase is forcing the Bengals’ hand at this point, and it isn’t anyone’s fault but theirs.
Should the Colts keep Chris Ballard and Shane Steichen?
Mykal McEldowney/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” — Albert Einstein You live and die by your decisions. Chris Ballard and Shane Steichen put their cards on the table and made the gutsiest move of their careers by benching young quarterback Anthony Richardson for veteran Joe Flacco. The way it was handled was as poor as it can possibly be and the sudden return to Richardson as the starter shows there is a lack of a plan behind closed doors in Indianapolis. The Ballard era has been an interesting one to say the least. Things were off to a nice start with Andrew Luck at the helm and a playoff berth and win in Ballard’s 2nd year with the team. After Luck left due mostly to the negligence and ineptitude of the previous administration, the Colts were on the lookout for new quarterback, but that new quarterback didn’t come around until the 2023 NFL Draft. The Colts drafted Anthony Richardson to rectify years of poor quarterback play. Going back a bit, Chris Ballard has done a very good job of acquiring talent, especially through the draft. He drafted star players like Quenton Nelson, Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman Jr, Josh Downs, Braden Smith, Bernhard Raimann and Grover Stewart… just to name a few. He traded for DeForest Buckner and signed/claimed key players like Kenny Moore, which bolstered an incredibly strong roster. The Colts were/are loaded at many different position, yet the inability to find a quarterback has haunted this team for many years. At the end of the day, a great quarterback can mask an entire team. The teams Andrew Luck quarterbacked were much less talented than the Colts teams of the past few years, yet the Luck teams had a lot more success. So while Ballard did a great job finding talent, he couldn’t find a quarterback. In his defense, it’s damn hard to find a quarterback, but that’s why he gets paid millions a year. After years of inexcusable quarterback mistakes, going for Philip Rivers (who was very good but didn’t help the Colts in any way for the future), followed by Carson Wentz and then Matt Ryan, the Colts finally landed a young 1-of-1 player they could finally go the playoffs and contend with. His ceiling was as high as any player in the NFL, but he was raw and needed development. He surely needed more than 10 games to prove himself. The Colts had a variety of options with him, as they could’ve gone with the Patrick Mahomes approach of letting him sit and learn fully for a year before starting. They could’ve gone with the Josh Allen approach which is to throw him into the fire and learn through reps. They could’ve gone with the Lamar Jackson approach where you introduce him through gadget packages for 10-15 plays a game. The Colts decided upon the Allen approach, which proved to be somewhat successful last season before Richardson missed the majority of the season due to injury. This season, the Colts went back to the Josh Allen approach, which means the team is living and dying with Richardson’s play. While every team wants to win, the team would have to be comfortable with losing games due to Richardson’s lack of experience. The last thing the team can do in this situation is bench him. While you can disagree with the approach they took and personally I did as I strongly align myself with the comments of Kurt Warner (who says what I believe much better than I can explain) and believed that he needed to go with more of a Lamar Jackson approach of slowing working him in from Year 1. The Colts went with the all in from day 1 approach and when you go with that, you are all in for at least 20something games, not 10 games. The benching of Richardson after 10 games showed a lack of patience from the administration and that demonstration indicated to me that they do not know how to develop quarterbacks. If this group can’t develop quarterbacks, then we are simply wasting our time as no team in today’s NFL can win with an average or below average quarterback. Ballard and his team took all these years to finally make a serious investment in a young quarterback and this is how they treated it. In my opinion, it’s the equivalent of buying stock in an upstart company with low revenue but a lot of growth and market share potential. Instead of holding on to that stock for years, they sold it after 5 months. And while the Colts have re-bought the stock after selling it, the simple act of selling indicates that the investor is: Not confident in the company Not patient in the company Doesn’t truly believe in the company If you are all in to that company, you are riding it to the top or to the ground. When looking at Shane Steichen, it’s obvious he’s a great offensive mind with good scheming skills and play designs. That’s what made him a great offensive coordinator, but being a head coach entails a whole new set of challenges and requires new skills. In my opinion, he has not displayed those skills and has showed a lack of leadership during the Richardson benching. Many fans rightfully ripped Chuck Pagano as a coach for many schematic and on-the-field struggles, but one thing he was without argument was a true charismatic leader. The head coach is a leader above all else, someone who commands respect at every moment during his tenure. The second that respect is questioned or gone, it’s time to move on. The perfect example of commanding respect and showing leadership of that in today’s NFL is Dan Campbell, who’s belief in his players coupled with his massive frame making him an imposing and redoubted figure in his locker room and his speeches

Allen’s passing yards average of 228.1 this season is less than his average prop bet total (231.4) by 3.3 yards. Allen has hit the over on his passing yards total five times this season (50.0%). He has thrown for a touchdown eight times this year in 10 games played, including multiple TD passes six times. Bills vs. Chiefs stats and trends The 206.7 passing yards the Chiefs allow per game makes them the NFL’s 14th-ranked pass defense this season. The Bills are totaling 222.5 passing yards per game on offense (12th in the NFL), and they rank 18th on defense with 212.9 passing yards allowed per game.
