Rams vs. Eagles: LA a field goal underdog for Sunday Night Football
Photo by Harry How/Getty Images LA has a chance to avenge loss to Philly from last season The L.A. Rams will be out for revenge in Week 12 as they host the red-hot Philadelphia Eagles, with the Rams a 3-point underdog at FanDuel Sportsbook. LA lost 23-14 to the Eagles in October 2023 to spoil Cooper Kupp’s first game of the season after being activated off IR. The Rams rebounded from an ugly showing on MNF by defeating the Patriots 28-22 in Foxborough. Matthew Stafford threw 4 touchdown passes in a spectacular performance. Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp combined for 13 catches for 230 yards and 3 touchdowns. Kupp had an extra nice 69-yard score which was perhaps the easiest touchdown of his career. Cooper Kupp has now scored multiple TDs in a game for the first time since 2022!! KAM SAID BALL GAME! : @NFLonFOX | #RamsHouse pic.twitter.com/zODAJV4LWs — Los Angeles Rams (@RamsNFL) November 17, 2024 On Thursday night, the Eagles won their sixth straight following a 26-18 win over the Commanders. Philadelphia has looked the part of a Super Bowl contender after their 2-2 start and largely have Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley to thank for the turnaround. Hurts completed 18-of-28 passes for 221 yards and added 39 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Eagles scored 20 points in the fourth quarter as Barkley added touchdown runs of 23 and 39 yards to pull away from Washington. Philly fans cannot thank the Giants enough for letting Barkley fall into their laps. Saquon Barkley has four games of 140+ rushing yards. He’s the first player to have 4 140+ yard rushing games in the first 10 games since Shawn Alexander in 2005. Alexander won MVP that season. #Eagles — Jeff Kerr (@JeffKerrCBS) November 15, 2024 There’s a reason Philly is on a six-game winning streak and I don’t see the Rams being able to keep up with them offensively. Saquon Barkley is on an absolute tear, and as good as LA’s young defensive line has performed over the last month, I’m afraid they’ll be in for a long night. Barkley will prove too much as the Eagles roll to their seventh straight win to remain in contention for the NFC’s top seed. What are your thoughts on this week’s betting odds? Bengals lose DJ Turner to collarbone injury vs. Chargers
Brad Penner-Imagn Images He was playing very well. The Cincinnati Bengals benched Cam Taylor-Britt after another rough night Sunday. Josh Newton got more snaps, and DJ Turner II made three really, really good plays on deep balls from Justin Herbert. The second-year corner was having arguably the best game of his career until he fell hard on his shoulder after breaking up a deep shot on the sideline. Turner remained on the turf as the broadcast went to commercial. Taylor-Britt was reinserted into the lineup as Turner went directly to the locker room. Per the Bengals, Turner is out with a collarbone injury. .@KetteringHealth Injury Update: CB DJ Turner II has been downgraded to out with a collarbone injury. — Cincinnati Bengals (@Bengals) November 18, 2024 With Turner out, this means CTB is going to be inserted back into the game after being benched yet again. If he can’t play well or someone else gets hurt, the Bengals will have to rely on DJ Ivey to finish it out. If someone gets hurt after that, then the Bengals will likely have to play a safety at corner…
Anthony Richardson caps off clutch performance with first career game-winning TD
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (5) runs for the game winning touchdown against New York Jets cornerbacks D.J. Reed (4) and Isaiah Oliver (23) during the fourth quarter at MetLife Stadium. | Brad Penner-Imagn Images “It was an automatic QB run there and I just told myself, I’m getting in this end zone regardless of what happens,” Richardson told reporters after Sunday’s win. Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson bulldozed his way into the end zone to score his second rushing touchdown with 46 seconds left and lift the Colts to a massive 28-27 road win over the New York Jets. Once Indianapolis (5-6) took over with 2:41 left in the fourth quarter, all eyes at MetLife Stadium turned to witness the NFL’s youngest starting signal caller potentially lead his first career game-winning drive. Richardson caught the Jets with a pump-fake and ignited the final rally with a phenomenal pass to receiver Alec Pierce for 39 yards. He connected with Downs on a slant for 17 yards to set up first-and-goal before scoring three plays later. “It was an automatic QB run there and I just told myself, I’m getting in this end zone regardless of what happens,” Richardson told reporters after Sunday’s win. After keeping the read option up the middle to convert a first down, Richardson hit receiver Michael Pittman Jr. on a dig route over the middle for 16 yards to enter Jets’ territory. Rookie receiver Adonai Mitchell burst past Jets’ All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner on a slant for 33 yards before getting tackled just shy of the end zone. Indy’s dual-threat QB showcased his freight train skill set as he ran a designed keeper left, stiff armed Jets’ defensive end Micheal Clemons, then lowered his surgically repaired shoulder and trucked Jets’ safety Jalen Mills into the end zone to extend the Colts lead to 10-0. Indianapolis did not allow a first down until the first play after the two minute warning as the Jets managed to gain just 27 total net yards in their first 16 offensive snaps. Colts rookie defensive end Laiatu Latu corralled Jets’ QB Aaron Rogers for his third career sack. Rodgers found his groove after the two minute warning and completed a 24-yard pass to receiver Davante Adams to breach Colts territory for the first time. Facing third-and-6 in the final minute of the first half, Rodgers dumped off a check down pass to running back Breece Hall, who took it 29 yards into the end zone to cut the deficit to 13-7. New York kept the momentum after Richardson was strip-sacked by Jets’ Javon Kinlaw on the second play of the second half. Kinlaw recovered the fumble to set up the Jets’ struggling offense outside the red zone. It took just two carries from Hall to dash right and dive inside the pylon for an 18-yard TD to give the Jets their first lead. Richardson engineered two clutch touchdown drives in the fourth quarter to mount an eight-point comeback victory. He capped off an eight-play, 70-yard drive with a passing TD to Downs on an angle route out the backfield to bring the Colts within two points. Indianapolis entered Week 11 with 42 explosive plays that gained 20-plus yards, second-most in the AFC behind Baltimore (50). Richardson exploded Sunday with nine completions of 15-plus-yards, including four such passes in the final frame. Richardson completed 20-of-30 passes for 272 passing yards and scored three total TDs in his 11th career start. pic.twitter.com/uIHWqwgrRf — Indianapolis Colts (@Colts) November 17, 2024 Colts defensive end Kwity Paye sacked Rodgers twice in the final drive to seal the road victory and essentially stick a fork in the Jets (3-8) 2024 campaign. 2025 Super Bowl odds: Detroit Lions now the favorite to win
Photo by Nic Antaya/Getty Images Believe it or not, the Detroit Lions are now the NFL favorite to win the Super Bowl. An unbelievable season continues to get more unprecedented for the Detroit Lions. After the Lions’ commanding 52-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Lions are now the favorite to win the Super Bowl, according to the latest odds from FanDuel. On Sunday, the Lions pushed their record to 9-1, now tied with the Chiefs for the best record in football. Detroit has won eight straight games, the long active winning streak in football, and the longest franchise winning streak in a single season since the Lions’ 1934 season. Not that you need the reminder, but the Lions are one of just four teams who have never appeared in a Super Bowl alongside the Browns, Texans, and Jaguars. Last year, the Lions came the closest they’ve ever been to the Super Bowl, holding a 17-point lead at halftime over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game before letting the game slip away in the final two quarters. But this year’s team looks clearly better than the 2023 version. Detroit’s +159 score differential is by far the best in the league, and nearly double the next closest NFC team (Eagles, +80). Not only do they sport the league’s best offense, but their defense also ranks in the top 10 in almost every statistical category. In other words, this isn’t just Vegas riding the wave of a Lions team that is playing well right now. Detroit has earned every inch of being the Super Bowl favorite right now.
