Photo by David Berding/Getty Images Who will be sitting out today? We’re about ninety minutes away from kicking things off from Soldier Field between the Chicago Bears and your Minnesota Vikings. That means that both teams have put out their inactive lists for today’s contest, so it’s time to take a look at who will be sitting out of this one for both sides. Minnesota Vikings OL Dan Feeney CB Dwight McGlothern TE Josh Oliver DL Levi Drake Rodriguez OL Walter Rouse QB Brett Rypien (emergency QB) No surprises for the Vikings with Oliver having been declared out on the final injury report on Friday. He’ll be replaced by Nick Muse, who the Vikings activated yesterday to serve as the third tight end behind T.J. Hockenson and Johnny Mundt. Other than that it’s the usual suspects on the inactive list for the purple. Chicago Bears OL Kiran Amegadjie OL Ryan Bates DB Elijah Hicks DL Dominique Robinson WR Tyler Scott LB Ameer Speed No real surprises on the injury report for the Bears, either, as far as I can tell. Wide receiver Keenan Allen and running back D’Andre Swift, both of whom were listed as “questionable” for the Bears on their final injury report, are active for today’s contest. Those are your inactive lists for this afternoon’s contest between the Vikings and the Bears, folks. We’ll have our first discussion thread of the afternoon popping up at 11:30 AM Central time, and we hope that you’ll join us for today’s game!

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins Open Live Thread & Game Information
Photo by Jaiden Tripi/Getty Images Our Miami Dolphins enter this week’s game against the New England Patriots off of back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Two weeks ago, they won away over the Los Angeles Rams, 23 to 15. The Phins returned home and secured another victory last week over the Las Vegas Raiders, 34 to 19. Since the return of starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa from IR, the Dolphins have also run a much different offense than last season, with the focus now seemingly on ball control over the previous offense driven by the big/homerun play. Despite their 3 and 8 record, New England has played a bit more consistently lately. After beginning the season losing seven of their first eight games, the Patriots have won two of their last four games. It should be pointed out that those two wins are over possibly worse teams in the New York Jets and the Chicago Bears. The Patriots dropped their game last weekend against the Los Angeles Rams, 28 to 22. Please use this thread to follow this afternoon’s game between the New England Patriots and our Miami Dolphins. Patriots vs Dolphins inactive players Week 12: Terron Armstead, Alec Ingold updates
Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images The Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots have released their respective inactive players lists for their Week 12 AFC East showdown. The Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots are closing in on the kickoff of their Week 12 AFC East grudge match. The Dolphins beat the Patriots in New England in Week 5 and now welcome their rivals into Miami for the second half of the season series. The Dolphins come into the game in decent shape, health-wise, and they got some good news on Sunday as the teams released their inactive players lists for the game. Both tackle Terron Armstead and fullback Alec Ingold were listed as questionable on the Miami’s final injury report, but both players remained active for the game. Armstead’s presence at left tackle has a huge stabilizing effect on the entire offensive line and Miami needs the line to play well to extend their back-to-back wins into a three-game winning streak. Ingold missed the last two games as he has been dealing with a calf injury, but he will now be back on the field, assisting in pass protection and serving as the lead blocker in the running game. Not available for Miami are running back Jeff Wilson, Jr., cornerback Ethan Bonner, cornerback Kendall Fuller, linebacker Mohamed Kamara, offensive lineman Andrew Meyer, tight end Jack Stoll, and wide receiver Dee Eskridge. Fuller is still working his way back from a concussion, his second head injury of the season. The Patriots listed 10 players on their final injury report, with two of them landing on the inactive list. Defenisve tackle Jaquelin Roy was ruled out with a neck injury while defensive end Deatrich Wise was questionable with a foot issue. The rest of the New England inactive list includes defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy (neck), wide receiver KJ Osborn, guard Tyrese Robinson, defensive end Titus Leo, and quarterback Joe Milton. Milton is listed as the team’s emergency quarterback, allowing him to dress for the game in case starter Drake Maye and backup Jacobny Brissett are both injured during the contest. The Patriots’ defense received good news: Defensive tackle Christian Barmore (not injury-related), safety Kyle Duggar (ankle), and cornerback Christian Gonzalez (hip) are all available. Gonzalez is expected to matchup with Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill in a one-on-one matchup throughout the game. Kickoff on Sunday is set for 1 p.m. Eastern from Miami Gardens’ Hard Rock Stadium.
Patriots vs. Dolphins Week 12: How to watch, online stream, odds, kickoff time
Photo by Jaiden Tripi/Getty Images The Miami Dolphins look to sweep their AFC East rivals, the New England Patriots, on Sunday. How can you watch the game? The Miami Dolphins host the New England Patriots in the second half of the annual home-and-home series between the AFC East division rivals as the NFL’s Week 12 schedule unfolds. Miami beat the Patriots in New England in Week 5, coming away with a 15-10 victory with Tyler Huntley starting at quarterback. With Tua Tagovailoa back under center and Miami at home this weekend, will they be able to complete the season sweep? Miami enters the weekend 4-6, having won their last two games to rescue any hope they have for the AFC playoff picture. The Buffalo Bills, who are on their bye week in Week 12, lead the AFC East at 9-2, having jumped out far enough that Miami, in second place in the division, cannot realistically challenge them for the division title – but the wildcard, where Miami is 1.5 games out of the seventh seed position, could be within reach. The Patriots have fallen to 3-8 on the year, statistically just 1.5 games behind Miami, but it seems the two teams are very far apart in trying to make the 2024 season successful. New England is tied for the third/fourth position in the AFC East with the New York Jets. Can the Dolphins turn back-to-back wins into as three-game winning streak with a sweep of the Patriots? Will New England look to end any long-shot hopes Miami has for a third-straight playoff appearance? Detroit Lions rookie active for first time vs. Indianapolis Colts
Photo by Nic Antaya/Getty Images The Detroit Lions have declared their inactives ahead of their Week 12 game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Detroit Lions (9-1) have declared their inactives ahead of the Week 12 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts (5-6). Due to injuries this week, the Lions have needed to do some shuffling in their linebacker and cornerback rooms. Linebacker Alex Anzalone and corner Ennis Rakestraw have landed on injured reserve, while corner Terrion Arnold will miss this game with a groin injury. As a result, the Lions have elevated linebacker David Long from the practice squad and activated corner Emmanuel Moseley from injured reserve, and placed him on the 53-man roster. Additionally, the Lions have also activated nose tackle Brodric Martin from injured reserve (though he is inactive), bringing their game day roster total up to 54 players. One interesting note amongst this week’s inactives is that rookie guard Christian Mahogany is active, while veteran Kayode Awosika will not play. It’s unclear if this is injury related, if Mahogany jumped him on the depth chart, or if it’s simply a way to get the rookie even more experience. “Since he’s come off of IR, you’ve seen Christian grow immensely,” Lions offensive coordinator Ben johnson said earlier this week. “I really wish we, as a staff really wish, he would have been available there in the preseason because those would’ve been huge games to really get a gauge for where he’s at right now, and it’s a little bit harder in practice. Sometimes we have pads on, sometimes we don’t. But, from the one-on-one aspect, the pass-pro and run blocking, you see flashes of immense potential right there. So, we’ll continue to try to find where we can slip him in to get him more experience, but he’s a guy that we have high hopes for.” For this week’s game, because the Lions have eight offensive linemen active for Sunday’s game, they are eligible to expand their game-day roster from 47 to 48 players. Therefore, with 54 players on the game-day roster and 48 eligible to play, the Lions need to declare just six players inactive for today’s matchup. Detroit Lions Week 12 rooting guide: Best outcomes for NFC playoffs, No. 1 seed
Photo by Scott W. Grau/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Here are all the outcomes for Week 12 you should be rooting for to improve the Detroit Lions’ odds for the No. 1 seed. The Detroit Lions sit comfortably atop the NFC playoff picture thanks to a league-leading 9-1 record. That said, there are a pair of two-loss teams that are nipping at their heels. So if the Lions want to maintain their grasp of the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye, they’ll need to finish strong, and that starts Sunday with a win over the Indianapolis Colts. But it’s always nice to get a little help, too. So if you’re watching all of the NFL on Sunday, here are the best possible outcomes for the Lions to help them secure a playoff spot, a division title, and the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Take a look: Vikings (8-2) at Bears (4-6) — 1 p.m. ET — FOX Root for: Bears The Vikings have narrowly escaped a couple of losses lately, and it feels like it’s only a matter of time before they slip up again. Meanwhile, the Bears have narrowly escaped a couple of wins. Last week, in particular, they epically collapsed when they finally had the Packers where they wanted them. Hopefully, they can bounce back, hand the Vikings their third loss of the season, and then be physically and emotionally spent so that the Lions can wipe them out on Thanksgiving. Buccaneers (4-6) at Giants (2-8) — 1 p.m. ET — CBS Root for: Giants This game essentially doesn’t matter, as it’s almost mathematically impossible for the Buccaneers to catch the Lions. But why not eliminate all possibilities? [Editor’s note: And just keep the Bucs out of the playoff picture completely.] Cowboys (3-7) at Commanders (7-4) — 1 p.m. ET — FOX Root for: Cowboys The Commanders have dropped two in a row and are suddenly out of the No. 1 seed race. They could certainly work their way back into that conversation with a relatively easy schedule left. A loss to the lowly Cowboys, however, would likely end any serious chances of them earning the top seed. 49ers (5-5) at Packers (7-3) — 4:25 p.m. ET — FOX Root for: 49ers Unfortunately, San Francisco will be without both Brock Purdy and Nick Bosa, which will make this upset a little less likely. Of course, the 49ers losing isn’t a terrible outcome, seeing as they could be a dangerous team if they ever get healthy. Still, a Packers loss is far more preferable, both in terms of the NFC North race and by the universal “FTP” philosophy we all live by. Cardinals (6-4) at Seahawks (5-5) — 4:25 p.m. ET — FOX Root for: Seahawks This game doesn’t really matter all that much, so you can freely root for whatever you want. But I’m simply picking the Seahawks since the Cardinals have the best record in the NFC West. Detroit isn’t likely to be surpassed by either team with a three-game lead plus the tiebreaker over Arizona. But I want chaos in that division, so let’s make it as close as possible. Eagles (8-2) at Rams (5-5) — 8:20 p.m. ET — NBC Root for: Rams Pull out your Detroit Rams shirts and drape your Matthew Stafford jersey over it because a Rams win over the Eagles would be huge for the Lions. As of right now, the Eagles look like Detroit’s biggest competition for the No. 1 seed due to their six-game win streak and strong roster in the trenches. While I don’t love the idea of letting the Rams get back into the playoff race, it’s a far better outcome than seeing the Eagles get to 9-2. NFC playoff standings if results go Detroit’s way + Lions win NFC North: Lions: 10-1 Vikings: 8-3 Packers: 7-4 Bears: 5-6 The Lions would have a two-game lead (plus a temporary tiebreaker) with just six weeks left in the season. That would be a pretty comfortable lead, although, with a game against the Vikings and Packers still remaining, the Lions will have plenty of work to do regardless of what happens this week. NFC standings: Lions: 9-1 Eagles: 8-3 Falcons: 6-5 Cardinals: 6-5 Another two-game lead here, plus it would pretty much just be a two-division race for the No. 1 seed (it probably already is). Not including any Week 12 results, here are the odds for the No. 1 seed in the NFC (by DVOA): Lions: 85.8% Eagles: 7.8% Vikings: 4.7% Commanders: 1.0% Packers: 0.6% Wild Card race (top three advance) 5. Vikings: 8-36. Packers: 7-4 7. Commanders: 7-5t-8. Seahawks: 6-5t-8. 49ers: 6-5t-8. Rams: 6-511. Bears: 5-6 In this scenario, the NFC West is all 6-5, which would be an extremely fun outcome. I don’t currently have a preference for who comes out of that division other than I’d rather not deal with another GOFF VS. STAFFORD playoff game, if possible.

‘Significant interest’ in ex-New York Giants QB Daniel Jones
Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images Several playoff-caliber teams reportedly want to sign Jones As we have been predicting, it appears there will be “significant interest” in former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, according to FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Jones will clear waivers on Monday. Schultz expects the Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, and Miami Dolphins to try and sign Jones, who requested his release on Friday after having been benched with the Giants at 2-8. He was officially waived on Saturday. With the exception of the Vikings, those are all teams that we said on Saturday should pursue Jones. The Vikings, with Sam Darnold starting and with first-round pick J.J. McCarthy returning next season after missing this year following knee surgery, are a bit of a surprise. Minnesota, though, fits the playoff-caliber team with a questionable backup quarterback situation scenario we expected Jones to pursue for the remainder of the season. The Vikings’ current backups for Darnold are Nick Mullens and Bretty Rypien. Schultz said Jones is looking “not only for a chance to join a contending team, but also to develop in an offensive system where he can learn and grow.” ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said the Ravens and Vikings are the “likeliest teams” sign Jones, but “hardly the only ones” who will try. A further benefit for a team signing Jones would be that he would qualify for the compensatory pick formula. Thus, if he signs with a team as a free agent and then leaves in free agency this offseason that team could receive a 2026 compensatory pick. So, it sounds like the exiled former Giants quarterback is going to land quickly on his feet.

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes Despite joining the Chiefs midway through the season, Hunt leads the NFL in touches inside the 5-yard line (16), resulting in eight touchdowns this year. This week, Hunt faces a favorable matchup against a Carolina defense that ranks last in rush success rate allowed and second-to-last in EPA allowed per rush. With Isiah Pacheco sidelined for another week, expect the Chiefs to continue feeding Hunt in the red zone, giving him ample opportunities to add to his league-leading production inside the 5 against a struggling Panthers run defense. Click here to see more bets for this game Only Jauan Jennings has a better matchup than Josh Downs this week, according to our WR/CB matchup chart. Downs has been a red-zone force this season, commanding a 40% target share inside the 10-yard line — the fourth-highest mark in the NFL. As 7.5-point underdogs to the Lions, the Colts will likely lean heavily on the passing game, giving Downs additional opportunities to make plays. With his dynamic ability and a terrific matchup, he has the potential to break a big one from anywhere on the field. Click here to see more bets for this game The Giants have struggled to defend the run all season, ranking sixth worst in EPA allowed per rush and lagging in other run efficiency metrics as well. Meanwhile, Bucky Irving has taken command of the Buccaneers’ backfield, leading the team in carries over the past few games. Irving not only excels as a rusher but is also frequently utilized as a receiver near the goal line, giving him multiple pathways to score. In a game where the Buccaneers are expected to play from ahead and lean on their ground attack, Irving is well-positioned to find the end zone. Click here to see more bets for this game
Should the Ravens have interest in signing veteran QB Daniel Jones?
Should the Ravens have interest in signing veteran QB Daniel Jones? glenn erby The Ravens have many needs as they head down the stretch toward a potentially deep playoff run. The backup quarterback wasn’t the most pressing need, but things happened, and John Harbaugh wanted insurance for MVP candidate Lamar Jackson. Adam Schefter reports that Baltimore is among the few teams that could sign Jones once he clears waivers. Jones, who requested and received his release from the Giants on Friday, is expected to clear waivers on Monday at 4 p.m. ET. At that point, when he’s a free agent and allowed to talk to other teams, Jones should sign relatively quickly. Jones was drafted with the No. 6 pick from the Duke Blue Devils in the 2019 NFL Draft. After earning a contract extension in 2022, his struggles have continued in his sixth season with the Giants organization. Through 10 games this season, he has thrown just eight touchdowns to seven interceptions with a 79.4 passer rating and 46.8 quarterback rating.
