Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images HOF QB is a betting favorite to join the Silver and Black The Las Vegas Raiders’ biggest need this offseason is the quarterback position. Whether it is in the draft or free agency, this spot needs to be addressed for the team to be successful in 2025. Free agency will be the first opportunity for the Raiders to find their signal caller. They have been connected to Sam Darnold, but the other option is a future Hall of Famer. Aaron Rodgers is about to hit the market after he and the New York Jets parted ways. He will be free to sign with any NFL team, and one of them could be the Silver and Black. Las Vegas Review-Journal checked the betting odds for Rodgers’s move to Las Vegas. He is co-favorites with the Pittsburgh Steelers to join the Raiders. The Raiders are one of the front-runners to sign Aaron Rodgers after the Jets recently announced their intention to release the four-time NFL MVP quarterback. DraftKings sportsbook, which doesn’t operate in Nevada, posted odds on Rodgers’ next team, and the Raiders, Rams, and Steelers are listed as 3-1 co-favorites. Rodgers is coming off a disappointing season with the Jets but still put up better numbers than Raiders quarterbacks. He would be an upgrade, but that would not stop the Raiders from adding a signal caller in the draft. His price will be the topic of discussion, and his age will play a factor. Bills’ Josh Allen not named a top-five player in NFL in 2024 by PFF
Bills’ Josh Allen not named a top-five player in NFL in 2024 by PFF Bills’ Josh Allen not named a top-five player in NFL in 2024 by PFF Nick Wojton Well… Pro Football Focus made an interesting decision. The football analytics outlet named their top-101 players from the 2024 NFL season. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who was named the league’s MVP, was not in the top spot. Nor was he in the first five. Allen was named the sixth-best player in the NFL by PFF from the 2024 season: Adding to the PFF snub for Allen is his ranking amongst quarterbacks. The top player on PFF’s ratings is the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson. Right in between Jackson and Allen is Joe Burrow from the Cincinnati Bengals. Jackson could be debated as the top player, Burrow is the curious one finishing above Allen. Jackson and Allen were considered the top candidates to win the 2024 MVP, Burrow’s Bengals didn’t even make the postseason. While Burrow had a positive year, that’s a curious call. PFF’s full breakdown on Allen at No. 6 can be found below: Allen earned his first NFL MVP award by ranking third among qualified quarterbacks in PFF grade and leading that group with a 93.6 rushing grade and 43 big-time throws. He is the first quarterback in PFF history to earn a 90.0-plus grade in five straight seasons, surpassing Tom Brady, who did it four times in a row from 2015 to 2018. On top of his amazing playmaking ability, Allen recorded a career-low 2.6% turnover-worthy play rate. Read all the best Bills coverage at the Democrat and Chronicle and Bills Wire.
Dolphins free agents 2025: Walk, tag, re-sign – Braxton Berrios
Bill Ingram / USA TODAY NETWORK The start of NFL’s free agent signing period is just over two weeks away. The Miami Dolphins have decisions to make, including what to do with wide receiver Braxton Berrios. The NFL is two-and-a-half weeks from the start of their 2025 league year. The league officially opens 2025 at 4 p.m. Eastern on March 12, bringing with it the start of free agency. Between now and then, teams are reviewing their list of players with expiring contracts, trying to work out contracts with player they want to re-sign, considering use of the franchise tag, or choosing to let the player test the free agency market. The Miami Dolphins, who are scheduled to have 32 players hit the free agency market – including six players who are either restricted or exclusive rights free agents – have several decisions that have to be made. We have been working our way through the list, providing you with a chance to weigh in on what Miami should do with each player. Today, we turn our spotlight toward wide receiver Braxton Berrios. After I take a look at his biographical data, his 2024 performance, what might be his role in 2025, and provide you my projection of what the team should do, we turn it over to you. Do you think the team should let Berrios walk away in free agency, use a franchise or transition tag on him, or re-sign him to a new contract? You can vote in the poll below, and feel free to head to the comments to discuss your reasoning as well. Last five free agent reviews: Biography Braxton Berrios Position: Wide reciever Age (when season begins): 29 Draft: 2018 sixth-round (210th overall) by New England Patriots Experience: 7 years Previous Teams: New England Patriots (2018) New York Jets (2019-2022) Miami Dolphins (2023-2024) Pro Bowl/All-Pro: 2021 First-Team All-Pro Expiring Contract 1 year, $2.2 million 2024 Review 6 games played7 punt returns14.7 yards per return average3 kick returns25.3 yards per return average Berrios was expected to be a depth wide receiver and the primary return option in his second season with the Dolphins. He assumed that role, beginning the year as the team’s slot wide receiver, working behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, while the team waited for Odell Beckham, Jr., to return from injury. Berrios’ 2024 season was shortened to just six games, however, as he tore his ACL against the Indianapolis Colts, ending his season with no receptions and just 10 return opportunities. 2025 Outlook With a torn ACL in late October, Berrios’ 2025 season may not start on time as he completes his recovery. The question marks about his availability may lead to him being a late addition in free agency or an in-season signing for depth from someone. He is a solid returner, maybe not a threat to break it for a touchdown on every return, but he will be sure-handed and make smart decisions with the return. His career high in receptions is 46 in 2021. He is not a high-target wide receiver, but he can be an important piece of an offense – in 2023, he caught 27 passes for the Dolphins, with 15 of them for first downs. He is not your prototypical possession wide receiver, but he can provide that surehanded target when needed, and that is probably the best role for him heading into 2025. Walk, Tag, Re-Sign? Projected tag value (Wide receiver): $26.4 million (franchise); $23.1 million (transition) (via OvertheCap.com) Walk/Re-sign. Berrios re-signing makes sense, giving the team a veteran depth option at wide receiver, but it is not a move the team needs to make right now. His injury likely will slow the market for him, giving the Dolphins the option to re-sign him later this summer when his knee is closer to being cleared. He is not someone the team has to bring back, but he knows the offensive system, provides solid check down options when needed, and can be a returner on special teams. There is a spot on the roster for him, even if it is signing him later this year rather than re-signing him now.

2025 NFL Scouting Combine: Joe Schoen availability, TV and workout schedule, more
Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images The NFL world will descend upon Indianapolis this week for the annual NFL Scouting Combine. Here is the schedule of events and everything else you need to know. Joe Schoen will kick things off Players don’t get on the field for televised workouts until Thursday, but the action starts bright and early Tuesday morning. New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen will be in the first group of GMs and head coaches to speak with media at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday. For the second consecutive year, head coach Brian Daboll will not have media availability in Indianapolis. By my count, 21 of the 32 head coaches will hold media sessions in Indianapolis. Big Blue View will be on hand Tuesday morning, and throughout most of the week. So, stay tuned for our first-hand coverage, and for plenty of detail from Chris Pflum and Nick Falato, as well. Player schedule Here is the media availability and workout schedule for players: Media availability Wednesday, Feb. 26 — Defensive line, linebackers, placekickers Thursday, Feb. 27 — Defensive backs, tight ends Friday, Feb. 28 — Quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs Saturday, March 1 — Offensive line On-field workouts/measurements Wednesday, Feb. 26 — Kicker workout Thursday, Feb. 27 — Defensive line, linebackers Friday, Feb. 28 — Defensive backs, tight ends Saturday, March 1 — Sunday, March 2 — Offensive line How to watch TV: NFL Network will broadcast all of the Combine workouts from Lucas Oil Stadium. Unfortunately for the Giants, the 2025 quarterback class isn’t as highly regarded as the 2024 class, and there might be more questions than answers for a team as desperate for a quarterback as the Giants. That isn’t to say, however, that this class is a bereft of talent as the 2021 class which was headlined by Kenny Pickett. We’ll be looking to see if Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders do anything at the Combine after sitting out the All Star games. If they don’t it could present an opportunity for passers like Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe, Tyler Shough, Kyle McCord, Will Howard, Kurtis Rourke, Dillon Gabriel, or Quinn Ewers to distinguish themselves. — Chris Pflum Max Brosmer, Minnesota Brady Cook, Missouri Jaxson Dart, Mississippi Quinn Ewers, Texas Dillon Gabriel, Oregon Seth Henigan, Memphis Will Howard, Ohio State Riley Leonard, Notre Dame Kyle McCord, Syracuse Graham Mertz, Florida Jalen Milroe, Alabama Kurtis Rourke, Indiana Shedeur Sanders, Colorado Tyler Shough, Louisville Cam Ward, Miami Running backs This year’s running back class looks to be fantastic and every bit as stacked with talent as the 2024 receiver class. There’s a tremendous breadth and depth of talent available, with players to fit every team. There are bruising power backs, lightning-quick scat-backs, and players who could find success in any niche or system. And, of course, overshadowing them all is Heisman runner-up Ashton Jeanty of Boise State, who had more yards after contact (1,882) than the next most productive runner had in total (Cam Skattebo, 1,711). — Chris Pflum LeQuint Allen, Syracuse Ulysses Bentley IV, Mississippi Jaydon Blue, Texas Tahj Brooks, Texas Tech Donovan Edwards, Michigan Trevor Etienne, Georgia DJ Giddens, Kansas State Ollie Gordon II, Oklahoma State | Prospect Profile Omarion Hampton, North Carolina RJ Harvey, UCF TreVeyon Henderson, Ohio State Jarquez Hunter, Auburn Ja’Quinden Jackson, Arkansas Jordan James, Oregon Ashton Jeanty, Boise State Kaleb Johnson, Iowa | Prospect Profile Montrell Johnson Jr., Florida Quinshon Judkins, Ohio State | Prospect Profile Corey Kiner, Cincinnati Phil Mafah, Clemson Woody Marks, USC Damien Martinez, Miami | Prospect Profile Kyle Monangai, Rutgers Kalel Mullings, Michigan Devin Neal, Kansas | Prospect Profile Dylan Sampson, Tennessee Raheim Sanders, South Carolina | Prospect Profile Cam Skattebo, Arizona State | Prospect Profile Brashard Smith, SMU Bhayshul Tuten, Virginia Tech Marcus Yarns, Delaware Wide receivers The 2025 wide receiver class is overshadowed by last year’s class, as well as this year’s running back and tight end classes. However, it isn’t a bad or weak class by any means. It has several players who should emerge as starters, and potential stars, at the next level. Players like Tetairoa McMillan, Luther Burden III, Emeka Egbuka, Isaiah Bond, and Travis Hunter (should a team view him as a receiver) could all become impact receivers. This class is also packed with players who should be important role players early in their careers, like Jack Bech, Jalen Royals, and Tre Harris. — Chris Pflum Andrew Armstrong, Arkansas Elic Ayomanor, Stanford Elijhah Badger, Florida Jack Bech, TCU | Prospect Profile Isaiah Bond, Texas Ja’Corey Brooks, Louisville Sam Brown Jr., Miami Pat Bryant, Illinois Luther Burden III, Missouri Beaux Collins, Notre Dame Chimere Dike, Florida Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State Da’Quan Felton, Virginia Tech Tai Felton, Maryland Jacolby George, Miami Matthew Golden, Texas Tre Harris, Mississippi | Prospect Profile Jayden Higgins, Iowa State | Prospect Profile Traeshon Holden, Oregon Jimmy Horn Jr., Colorado Tory Horton, Colorado State Kobe Hudson, UCF Travis Hunter, Colorado Daniel Jackson, Minnesota Tez Johnson, Oregon | Prospect Profile Josh Kelly, Texas Tech KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Auburn Jaylin Lane, Virginia Tech Dominic Lovett, Georgia Bru McCoy, Tennessee Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona Konata Mumpfield, Pittsburgh Nick Nash, San Jose State Isaiah Neyor, Nebraska Jaylin Noel, Iowa State Kaden Prather, Maryland Xavier Restrepo, Miami Jalen Royals, Utah State Arian Smith, Georgia Roc Taylor, Memphis Isaac TeSlaa, Arkansas Dont’e Thornton Jr., Tennessee Jordan Watkins, Mississippi Theo Wease Jr., Missouri Antwane Wells Jr., Mississippi | Prospect Profile LaJohntay Wester, Colorado Ricky White III, UNLV Kyle Williams, Washington State Savion Williams, TCU | Prospect Profile Tight ends The 2025 tight end class is shaping
At QB, McVay has shown preference for experience over youth
Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images McVay needs experience to run his offense Will Sean McVay ever turn his offense over to a young quarterback again? Despite reaching the playoffs three times and advancing to the Super Bowl once in his first four seasons at the helm, McVay made the decision to move on from Jared Goff and obtain a 33-year old veteran in Matthew Stafford who hadn’t won a playoff game in his 12 years in the NFL. The risk paid off with a Lombardi Trophy in Stafford’s first season with the team. That was then and this is now. The offseason buzz surrounding a potential Mattew Stafford departure has turned from a classic rumor to a probable scenario with veteran quarterbacks being linked to fill his position. Aaron Rodgers makes an enticing story line but Jimmy Garrapolo, who filled the role as backup last season, and $180 million QB Kirk Cousins have been floated as possibilities. Amid the rumors and chatter regarding the futures of Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers, one plugged-in executive has a prediction (and just a prediction, for now): Stafford gets traded to the Giants, and Rodgers signs with the Rams. https://t.co/rC8jheVeSs — ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) February 22, 2025 But if Les Snead can find a way to get a top-five pick in this year’s draft for Stafford, would the Los Angeles Rams be comfortable putting their season on the shoulder’s of a rookie? There are of course the obvious problems with this. This year’s draft doesn’t have the kind of talent it did last year at the quarterback position with Shadeur Sanders and Cam Ward likely going within the first three picks. Even if there were more options, I doubt they look for a starting caliber QB in the early rounds of any draft. As long as McVay is on LA’s payroll the team will always be in a win-now scenario. The Super Bowl winning head coach is on a clock after already flirting with the idea of moving on from head coaching for other opportunities in the media. McVay doesn’t seem to have any real interest in developing another young quarterback and proved that when he traded away Goff in favor of Stafford. If Stafford does not come back it seems highly likely McVay would prefer to go the veteran route once again. Micah Parsons wants to see way more respect on Sean McVay’s name! pic.twitter.com/uffEDN6TR9 — B/R Gridiron (@brgridiron) February 13, 2025 And if it is Rodgers that ends up as the Rams quarterback next season after signing a league-minimum deal for a year, my money would be on LA looking for another veteran the next year as well. As amazing as Bo Nix and Jayden Daniels played in their rookie seasons, that kind of production is rare to see which is why as long as the Rams have McVay they will always go the veteran way. The dream scenario would to get a third to fifth round quarterback to develop under Stafford or another veteran to learn and grow in McVay’s offense for a few years before handing over the keys, but even that rarely works out. Stetson Bennett was drafted for that reason but it at the moment it seems obvious that he would have no real shot at taking over the starting position outside of some very unfortanute injuries. The likelihood that the Rams finish as a bottom-five team in the NFL is also highly unlikely as long as McVay is still the leader of the orginization and realisticly will not have a shot at a top-QB prospect outside of some crazy trade scenarios. What do you think the Rams should do? Would you like to see them draft a quarterback in the first round or fill other needed positions on the roster?
