But following him over his career, he’s gotten better at that every single year. So, even though he’s played a lot, he’s not perfect, but everything he’s done, he’s gotten better at. I just think the raw tools inside that division and the stadiums and the weather environments you’re going to play in, I think that stuff plays.” The two biggest meetings this week for the New York Giants The Giants have done “a lot of work” on Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders Joe Schoen says the Giants are excited to spend time with the two quarterbacks pic.twitter.com/omDfEIhxzC — Giants Videos (@SNYGiants) February 25, 2025 Shedeur Sanders: NFL Combine QB’s chance to impress NY Giants | The Record “Can [quarterbacks] handle the pressure of playing in the New York market, and adversity and what comes with being the quarterback of the New York Giants?” Schoen continued. “And that’s important. We’ve had a couple prospects over the last couple of years that we didn’t think mentally could handle it, even though they were physically talented. Just didn’t think it would be a great fit.” 2025 NFL free agency: Needs for every NFC team with new league year coming soon | CBSSports.com The New York Giants need a new quarterback to build around after the Daniel Jones era became a failure. New York was enamored with Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders at the East-West Shrine Bowl at the end of January. It feels like the Giants will pick Sanders if he falls to them at pick No. 3 in the 2025 NFL Draft. Step two needs to be fixing an offensive line that allowed the fith-highest quarterback pressure rate (38.4%) in the entire league last season. After that, upgrading the supporting cast of pass catchers after Malik Nabers needs to be a priority. The Giants offense is a mess. 2025 NFL draft class: Strengths, weaknesses, big questions | ESPN.com “There are four, maybe five, blue-chip players,” one NFL general manager said. “After that, it’s 40 guys with a late-first-round or second-round grade.” Scouts view the 2025 class as light on future All-Pros but strong on starters. “You’re going to see a ton of rookie starters from this class because it’s such an experienced group,” an AFC South area scout said. Report: Abdul Carter might need foot surgery
Abdul Carter | Photo by Justin Casterline/Getty Images This news could end up having implications for the New York Giants Penn State edge defender Abdul Carter has a stress reaction in his right foot and could face surgery, per a report late Wednesday night and might require surgery, per a report NFL inider Adam Schefter. Since Carter is considered a potential No. 1 overall pickin the upcoming NFL Draft that could have a direct impact on the New York Giants at No. 3 overall, perhaps throwing the top of board into chaos. “There are mixed opinions on whether he needs surgery, and we will figure that out in the near future,” Carter’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told Schefter. Per Schefter, Carter could have surgery to have a screw inserted into the foot. That procedure would sideline him for roughly two months. He could also opt against the surgery, work out at his Pro Day and hope to convince teams he is healthy. Rosenhaus told Schefter he still expects Carter to be the first pick in the draft. “Either way, worst case scenario, we don’t expect this to impact where he is drafted,” Rosenhaus said. “After visiting with teams this week, I believe he’s going to be the No. 1 overall pick. “ The Tennessee Titans have the No. 1 pick and have said they would not pass on a generational talent. Does Tennessee consider Carter generational? “Abdul’s (Carter) a very good player,” Tennessee GM Mike Borgonzi said on Tuesday. “I don’t want to go into many evaluations of the players, but like I said, there’s certainly some players at the top there that fit that description of generational talent.” The Giants, of course, are quarterback-needy. New York’s interest in trading for veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford has been widely documented. If they don’t get Stafford from the Los Angeles Rams, though, drafting either Cam Ward of Miami or Shedeur Sanders of Colorado could be in play at No. 3. If the Giants were interested in moving up to No. 1 might the Carter news make the Titans more amenable to a move down as a measure of protecting themselves by obtaining extra picks? What Carter will decide and how it may or may not impact the draft is unknown. It is, though, a monkey wrench in the proceedings.
2025 NFL Draft: The ideal haul for every team in the first three rounds
Although free agency will help erase several of the foremost team needs, below is an early look at what a strong draft class would look for every squad by the end of Day 2025 NFL Draft: The ideal haul for every team in the first three rounds 2RRN0T0 FORT WORTH, TX – SEPTEMBER 02: Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders (#2) looks down field during the college football game between the Colorado Buffaloes and TCU Horned Frogs on September 2, 2023 at Amon G. (Photo by Matthew Visinsky/Icon Sportswire) (Icon Sportswire via AP Images) By Bradley Locker Posted Feb 27, 2025 5:45 am EST Shedeur Sanders falling would help several squads: The Las Vegas Raiders or New York Jets would be thrilled if they could pick arguably the draft’s top quarterback without needing to move up. Top edge rushers might fall: Mike Green, Shemar Stewart, Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams and James Pearce Jr. all have low floors but top-10 ceilings. 2025 NFL Draft season is here: Try PFF’s best-in-class Mock Draft Simulator and learn about 2025’s top prospects while trading and drafting for your favorite NFL team. Estimated Reading Time: 21 minutes Mock draft season is always in phase, but a perfect time for it to peak is the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. With every team in attendance to scrutinize this year’s top prospects, the ideal fits help rise to the forefront. Although free agency will help erase several of the foremost team needs, below is an early look at what a strong draft class would look for every squad by the end of Day 2. Note that these picks are meant to be relatively realistic — no, not everyone can have Travis Hunter. Click here to jump to a team: ARI | ATL | BAL | BUF | CAR | CHI | CIN | CLE | DAL | DEN | DET | GB | HOU | IND | JAX | KC | LV | LAC | LAR | MIA | MIN | NE | NO | NYG | NYJ | PHI | PIT | SF | SEA | TB | TEN | WAS | Arizona boasts the fifth-most cap space in the NFL at ~$76 million, and much of that will likely be invested in the team’s defense. Even then, the Cardinals will need to acquire young, blue-chip building blocks, particularly along a defensive line that finished 30th in PFF pass-rushing grade. Williams underwhelmed a bit in 2024 with only a 70.7 PFF pass-rushing grade, but he’s still just 26 years old and has a freakish build with a high ceiling. Norman-Lott’s 18.9% pass-rush win rate was the best among all interior defenders with 130 or more pass-rushing snaps. Paul finished the year as the fifth-highest-graded linebacker among qualifiers (87.3), and his 4.5% missed tackle rate would help fill the void left by pending free agent Kyzir White. Atlanta Falcons: EDGE Jalon Walker, CB Benjamin Morrison Atlanta only has two picks inside the top 116, which makes this exercise (and, frankly, nailing the draft) even tougher. But considering that the Falcons finished the season 27th in defensive success rate, allocating as many resources to that side of the ball seems logical. Walker could play either off-ball linebacker or edge rusher for the Falcons, but his 17.2% pass-rush win rate (second among qualified linebackers) is just too tempting to pass up. Given his injury history and declining play in 2024, Morrison very well could still be available at Pick 46. The Notre Dame product can excel in either man or zone, as evidenced by his 77.5-plus PFF coverage grade in both coverage types in 2023. Baltimore Ravens: OT Josh Simmons, CB Darien Porter, EDGE Josaiah Stewart Despite another fruitful campaign, the Ravens will need to confront several potential holes after free agency. Left tackle is probably the most pressing if Ronnie Stanley doesn’t return. Simmons (82.0 PFF pass-blocking grade) performed well during a brief 2024 but could slide due to an ACL injury. Moreover, Baltimore will presumably look to upgrade its outside corners next to Nate Wiggins. Porter (90.1 PFF coverage grade) brings elite speed, length and ball skills to the position, especially in man. Stewart (27.2% pass-rush win rate) would be a tremendous pickup in the third round given that Kyle Van Noy will be 35 this year — not to mention has the Michigan familiarity with the Harbaughs. Josh Allen’s MVP-caliber season propelled Buffalo to another AFC Championship appearance, but GM Brandon Beane will probably have to confront several notable roster problems after free agency. Revel (85.4 PFF coverage grade) would offer suffocating length and ball skills as a much-needed No. 2 to star Christian Benford. With Amari Cooper probably not coming back to Buffalo, Higgins (90.5 PFF receiving grade) could help replicate his verticality and physicality. Likewise, no Bills interior defender posted a PFF run-defense grade above 53.4, and Williams (88.6) would assuage that. Carolina’s defense was the worst in football last year and is devoid of many cornerstone players. The Panthers will definitely invest in that side via free agency, but the draft should offer the crux of the foundation. Green (20.2% pass-rush win rate) put together a fantastic 2024 at Marshall and has ascended ever since. Collins would help complement the returning Derrick Brown with his 85.0 PFF run-defense grade and his 69.8 PFF pass-rushing grade. The local Emmanwori should light up the combine to go along with his elite 86.8 PFF coverage grade from a year ago. Chicago Bears: OT Will Campbell, HB Kaleb Johnson, ILB Demetrius Knight Jr., WR Savion Williams The Bears are sitting pretty given their relatively low list of team needs but surplus of resources to account for them, including four picks in the top 72. Chicago could land some legit stars on both sides of the ball in that range. Campbell (80.6 PFF pass-blocking grade) is the No. 1 overall offensive lineman on PFF’s big board but could slide due to arm length concerns, which Ben Johnson would

Colts’ Samson Ebukam: Cut or Keep?
Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images Chris Ballard raised some eyebrows bringing up Samson Ebukam unprompted at the Combine. Will they keep the vet edge rusher or let him go? Chris Ballard was asked about Lou Anarumo at Defensive Coordinator’s impact and change to the defense, and he decided to highlight Samson Ebukam as a player he would be interested in seeing how he would perform in this new scheme. Ebukam has been the focus of a lot of conversations about potentially being moved this offseason after missing the entire 2024 season, so lets evaluate the case for why Ebukam should or shouldn’t be kept. Cut Ebukam is 30 years old and is coming off of Achilles tear. His cap hit is $10.49m for 2025 and he is on the last year of his deal. The Colts have plenty of Edge rushers demanding more snaps like Laiatu Latu, Kwity Paye, and Tyquan Lewis under contract. Dayo Odeyingbo is a Free Agent and the Colts could prioritize the younger and more versatile player. With new cap estimation, here’s how much they could sit at if they cut these 3 contracts: Braden Smith:+$16.75m3m Dead Cap Samson Ebukam:+$7.49m$3m Dead Cap Raekwon Davis:+$6.46m$2.5m Dead Cap Gets Colts to $65.9m, from 18th to 9th in cap space rank https://t.co/JRIP2dCygq pic.twitter.com/mltLhHnrKZ — Jay Robins mark (@RobinsLucas) February 19, 2025 The savings from cutting Ebukam is $7.49m, with only $3m dead cap. The risk of keeping Ebukam with other options to take snaps, paying him at that level, all while coming off of a significant injury that can linger are certainly factors to keep in mind. Keep Ebukam in 2023 was the Colts top pass rusher on the Edge, with 9.5 sacks and 14.4% Pass Rush Win Rate (28th in the NFL) while providing high end run support as the LEO in Gus Bradley’s scheme. He is a veteran leader of the room, is one of the few players on the roster with significant playoff experience, and is a high level athlete. Colts on ESPN’s win rate lists: EDGE Pass Rush Win %– Samson Ebukam: 21%, Tied 14th EDGE Run Stop Win %– Ebukam: 36%, Tied 3rd DT Pass Rush Win %– DeForest Buckner: 18%, Tied 5th OT Pass Pro Win %– Braden Smith: 90%, Tied 16th OT Run Block Win %– Smith: 79%, Tied 7th pic.twitter.com/WYFBhp0j7D — Jay Robins mark (@RobinsLucas) December 2, 2023 While Ebukam’s injury can be a multi year debilitating injury, it was suffered very early in 2024 in camp and should give him a lengthy recovery time. His contract is still only the 32nd highest cap hit of 2025 for Edge, so it isn’t the most ludicrous contract in the NFL . The Colts also only have Laiatu Latu under contract at Edge after 2025, so keeping as many options as possible for potential re-signings could be crucial for the future of the position too.
Pete Carroll’s influence: Helping the young defensive backs
Photo by Brandon Sloter/Getty Images Las Vegas has a lot of players who could develop under new coach Pete Carroll is a teacher. When he spoke at his introductory press conference when he was named the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, Pete Carroll spoke often of the importance of teaching. With more than 50 years in the coaching field, there is no doubt Carroll has a passion for teaching the game and it is what he excites him about being back on the sideline. So, while Carroll will spend time with players on the entire roster, one particular area where Carroll should have particular influence on the defensive backs. Carroll was a defensive back in his playing days and his coaching roots are as a secondary coach. There are several young defensive backs on the Las Vegas roster who Carroll can help. At cornerback, Jakorian Bennett was having a nice second season before he was lost for the season in November. he is the type of player that can grow under Carroll. Also, fellow starter Jack Jones is still just 27 and he can benefit from Carroll and his staff’s influence. 2024 draft picks, Decamerion Richardson and M.J. Devonshire (who was on the practice squad) are also young cornerbacks who have a chance to develop under Carroll. At safety, watch for Isaiah Pola-Mao (who signed a contract extension this week), Thomas Harper and Trey Taylor to all get the chance to grow in Carroll’s system. So, while Carroll’s influence will be wide-ranging, it will be fun to see how he can help this young group of players.

While he thinks about it, Armstead was gracious enough to take his contract down to the veteran minimum to allow the Dolphins to clear some cap space and make some moves in the coming weeks. Bengals meet with Walter Nolen and Mykel Williams at NFL Combine
Photo by Wesley Hitt/Getty Images The Bengals have some young talent on their defensive line, but they could still address it in Round 1 of this year’s NFL Draft. When it comes to which positions the Cincinnati Bengals should target in the NFL Draft, the defensive line could be one of those positions. The Bengals have some young talent on their defensive line with McKinley Jackson and Kris Jenkins Jr. However, it never hurts to have depth up front on defense, especially when we don’t know if B.J. Hill is going to be on the Bengals in 2025. SEC defensive linemen are always intriguing prospects. On Wednesday, the Bengals met with two of them. Ole Miss DT Walter Nolen says he will not be participating in on-field drills at the NFL Combine because he “has some things to clean up.” The likely first round pick has met with the Bengals. Nolen describes his game as “violent & fast; how football is supposed to be played.” Rightfully so, as Nolen had 10.5 sacks over the last two seasons of his career. That includes 6.5 sacks in 2024, a season where Nolen had 14 tackles for loss and 48 combined tackles.
