The rookie receiver is out of the doghouse.
Jermaine Burton’s talents are needed on a roster that can only win with its passing game.
The rookie receiver always had the ability to get separation and make electric plays at the professional level. The problem was his professionalism.
Last week, after reportedly being specifically included in the gameplan, he didn’t participate in Saturday’s walkthroughs, resulting in him being a healthy scratch from Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
But then he apparently turned a corner ahead of the Thursday night game against the Baltimore Ravens.
As The Enquirer’s Charlie Goldsmith reports, Zac Taylor said Burton “did a great job handling a lot of stuff and showed attention to detail during the week.” The head coach added, “He’s remorseful for what happened and gave us his best this week.”

A big reason Burton has made the adjustment to the NFL from a preparation standpoint is that he has the support of one of the greatest players in the league, superstar quarterback Joe Burrow.
Here’s what Taylor said on that matter: “He and Joe were on the same page with a lot of stuff. Joe spent a lot of time with him during the week.”
But despite the better attitude, Burton only caught one of five targets for 11 yards against the Ravens. One of those targets was a deep shot where the receiver seemingly wasn’t running at full speed, so there are still some communication issues to work out. But they’re getting there.
