The Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings will battle it out on the latest installment of “Sunday Night Football.” Come chat with us in our open thread.
The Minnesota Vikings (5-2) are hosting the Indianapolis Colts (4-4) in a Week 9 “Sunday Night Football” matchup. These two teams have faced each other 27 times in their team’s histories, with the Colts holding a 17-8-1 regular season lead, a 1-0 post-season lead, and won six of the last seven battles.
The Vikings are looking to get back to their winning ways after falling to the Detroit Lions in Week 7 and then not being able to escape the “Lions Hangover” when they lost to the Rams last week. Sam Darnold, who has a habit of holding onto the ball too long, will have to avoid a solid Colts’ pass rush and hope to take advantage of an underwhelming secondary.
Meanwhile, the Colts are at the forefront of the NFL’s latest drama, as they have benched second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson—after he pulled himself out of last week’s game mid-drive—and have replaced him with 39-year-old quarterback Joe Flacco for potentially the remainder of the season. Yikes. Flacco steps into the starting role and immediately gets one of the best defenses in the NFL, who will be looking to prove themselves after two performances they struggled in.
Betting line and pick for the game
The folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook have tabbed Minnesota as the favorites and set the betting line at Vikings -5.5 points.
I would’ve sided with the Vikings in this one before the Colts’ switch at the quarterback position, and feel like Minnesota’s defense will be in an even better position to bring home the win.
Prediction: Vikings 24-16
