Your open thread for Sunday night
Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season continues in prime time with the Minnesota Vikings taking on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football.
This is a game both teams need to win. The 5-2 Vikings are trying to keep pace in an ultra-competitive NFC North, while the 4-4 Colts are looking to stay above 0.500 as they get ready for a potentially tough stretch of games.
The Vikings are favored by 5.5 points at home by FanDuel sports book, but the Colts’ decision to change quarterbacks could complicate predictions. Will the Vikings rise to the occasion or will the Colts come away with the upset?
Chris’ pick: The Colts are throwing a curveball here by benching Anthony Richardson and starting the venerable Joe Flacco.
That changes how the Vikings prepare for the game, taking Richardson’s insane physical talent out of the equation but adding in a much more experienced and capable passer.
However, I’m going to with the Vikings.
Brian Flores’ defense has been cooking all season long, and while the Vikings’ offense has come back to Earth a bit, they’re still capable. The Colts have a pretty good defense, and they could make this very interesting if Flacco provides a spark (and consistency) for the offense.
Still, I’m picking the Vikings two break their two-game losing streak.
