Philadelphia Eagles news and links for 11/3/24.

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Jaguars expect to have Tank Bigsby, Travis Etienne, Brian Thomas in lineup – PFT
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne are both expected to play against the Eagles in Philadelphia. Bigsby was listed as questionable to play with an ankle injury while Etienne drew the same listing due to a hamstring injury. Wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. is also expected to play. The first-round pick has a chest injury, but was able to practice all week on a limited basis. The news isn’t as good for wide receiver Gabe Davis. Rapoport reports he is a longshot to play due to a shoulder injury.

Jalen Hurts vs. Trevor Lawrence is suddenly a prime matchup – BGN
This year the Jaguars have one of the worst defenses in the league. They are 32nd in DVOA, 31st in turnover rate, 30th in points per possession against, 29th in points against, yards against, passing yards per attempt, 27th on fourth down, 25th on 3rd down… to say they stink would overstate things. If “Jaguars Opponent QB” was a person they would be top 3 in yards, TDs, and passer rating. Actually, it’s even worse than that: they played the Browns, so, Deshaun Watson’s ineptitude (186 yards and 0 TDs) is deflating their numbers.

NFL Week 9 picks, schedule, odds, injuries, fantasy tips – ESPN
Jaguars storyline to watch: As bad as the Jaguars have been defensively — they’re on pace to allow the second-most yards (382.1) and points (28) per game in franchise history — they’ve been effective offensively. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has cut down his turnovers (he has five after averaging 20 per season over his first three seasons), and they’re averaging 5.8 yards per play, which would be the best mark in franchise history. The biggest issue is their slow starts (just 20 points scored in the first quarter), which might not hurt them this week because the Eagles are the only team in the NFL that hasn’t scored in the first quarter.

In Roob’s Eagles Observations: Why a big trade deadline move might not make sense – NBCSP
7. Jahan Dotson has played 286 offensive snaps and has 35 receiving yards. That’s less than half as many receiving yards as any other wide receiver who’s played at least 250 snaps this year. Patriots rookie Ja’Lynn Polk has played 292 snaps and has 78 yards. The dude is having a historically bad season. What the heck is happening? Dotson wasn’t worth the 16th pick in the draft, but he was at least a functional receiver in his two years in Washington, averaging 36 yards per game. He doesn’t even have 36 yards all year. And he’s been here long enough – since late August – where he’s not the new guy anymore. Dotson is a hard worker, he and Jalen Hurts put extra time, and when he’s out there he’s got the other team’s 3rd-best corner on him. There’s no reason the production should be this bad.

Eagles’ Jalen Hurts improved after embracing ‘critical feedback’ from teammates during bye week – NJ.com
“He‘s been one of those guys who said, ‘Hey, sometimes it hasn’t been what it needed to be for me,’’’ Eagles backup offensive tackle Darian Kinnard said. “He came in and took accountability for that. … I saw an uptick in accountability after the bye week. During the off week, he was in here trying to get better. He was talking to other guys in the locker room and getting critical feedback from the offensive line and from the coaches. He came in with the mindset of, ‘I need to get better. I need to improve on certain things.’ He’s been doing that so far.’” Hurts has taken on a bigger leadership role this season.

Game Preview: Jaguars vs. Eagles – PE.com
3. Win the turnover battle, win the game. It seems like pretty straightforward stuff: The Eagles haven’t turned the ball over in the last three games and they’ve won all three. Great trend. Excellent ball security. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has led the way for a dynamic offense since the bye week and he seems to be growing more and more into Kellen Moore’s offense. The Eagles have spread the ball around and have been balanced offensively. Note on Trevor Lawrence: He has 22 lost fumbles and 65 giveaways since 2021, most in both categories in the NFL.

Reacts Survey results: Jaguars fans lukewarm on Cam Robinson trade – Big Cat Country
11% of Jaguars fans think the good guys will get the win. As for the confidence tracker — 10% of Jaguars fans are confident in the direction of the team.

Washington Commanders Trade Rumors Tracker: Players want to come to Washington; Calling around for CBs – Hogs Haven
Washington’s roster went through massive changes this offseason, as Peters and Quinn jettisoned a lot of Ron Rivera’s players, and started shaping the roster to their vision. Some spots still need work, with CB, WR, EDGE depth possible spots the team is looking at. Dianna Russini reports the team is calling about CB help, but Adam Peters is not expected to be willing to part with high draft picks. Adam Schefter reports that players are calling their agents, telling them want to get traded there. What a time to be alive!

Cowboys hot topic: Dallas won’t make any significant trade deadline moves – Blogging The Boys
For example, the Cowboys need another wide receiver. Yet, veterans Davante Adams, Amari Cooper, and DeAndre Hopkins were all traded to new teams right under the Cowboys noses. As mentioned earlier, Dallas needs help at edge rusher, but they didn’t even try to add anyone with some juice from another team’s practice squad and there likely won’t be a trade. The Kansas City Chiefs, who got the aforementioned Hopkins, also traded for edge rusher Josh Uche. So, even the undefeated two-time defending Super Bowl champions are doing what they have to in order to get better. The unwillingness to put the Cowboys in the best position from a talent acquisition is mind-blowing, especially when the teams that are having great success are giving them the blueprint to prosper. No matter the situation, every team should be of the mindset that getting as many impactful players is the way to go. When it comes to the Cowboys, it’s simply doing just enough to get by, which is the worst way to go about putting a team together.

Ezekiel Elliott news: What this means for Rico Dowdle fantasy start/sit advice – SB Nation
The Dallas Cowboys are benching running back Ezekiel Elliott for at least one week, per ESPN’s Todd Archer. Elliott is being disciplined in Week 9 and did not travel with the team for their contest against the Atlanta Falcons. This should not have a significant fantasy football impact as running back Rico Dowdle returns to the Cowboys starting lineup. Dowdle was a late game-day scratch last week due to an illness. Elliott got the start and led the team with ten carries for 34 yards. Dalvin Cook was the No. 2 running back, rushing six times for 12 yards.

Roster moves: Giants elevating PK Jude McAtamney to kick vs. Commanders – Big Blue View
The New York Giants will elevate rookie placekicker Jude McAtamney from the practice squad to replace the injured Greg Joseph on Sunday against the Washington Commanders. It’s an ironic twist. In Week 2 against Washington, with placekicker Graham Gano on the injury report due to a groin issue, the Giants chose not to elevate McAtamney to the active roster in the event Gano proved unable to make it through the game.
