And we’re not entirely sure why
One of the big stories of the past few days for the Minnesota Vikings was their acquisition of offensive tackle Cam Robinson from the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Vikings needed a replacement for Christian Darrisaw, who was injured in their loss in Week 8 and will be gone for the season. Today, we may have gotten a small hint of at least part of the reason he was available.

According to Mike Dempsey of 1010XL, the Jaguars’ flagship radio station, Robinson refused to play in the Jaguars’ Week 8 contest against the Green Bay Packers in Jacksonville after being told he would not be starting. The Jaguars started Walker Little at left tackle for that contest instead.
Robinson had just cleared the league’s concussion protocol on Saturday, the day before the Packers/Jaguars game. He had not practiced on Wednesday and was limited in practice on that Thursday and Friday, being listed as “questionable” on the Jaguars’ final injury report of the week. Robinson had started the first seven games of the season for Jacksonville before sitting out of Sunday’s game.
Now, obviously none of us were there in Jacksonville and we don’t know the entirety of the story. I’m also not in a position to question Mr. Dempsey, given that he’s got a pretty direct connection to the Jaguars’ community. Perhaps the Jaguars were just trying to play things cautiously with Robinson, as teams probably should with anyone who didn’t clear concussion protocol until 24 hours before a game, but Robinson didn’t much care for the idea and let his coaches know about it.
Either way, Robinson is a member of the Vikings now and we don’t know when he’s going to be making his debut, but there’s a good chance that it could be against his former team when the Vikings travel to Jacksonville a week from Sunday.
