And one for the thumb! A Detroit Lions player has won Player of the Week honors for the fifth game in a row.
While you surely had to see this one coming, it’s still just as sweet. For the fifth game in a row, a Detroit Lions player takes home Player of the Week honors, as Kalif Raymond is recognized for his amazing game against the Tennessee Titans.

Against the Titans, Raymond produced 190 punt return yards (38.0 aver per return) and scored on a punt return for a touchdown. On offense, he had two receptions for 14 yards and another score, becoming the first player in Lions history to score a receiving and punt return touchdown in a single game.

Raymond is the Lions’ third special team player to win the award over the last five games, as punter Jack Fox won NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3 and kicker Jake Bates won the award in Week 7, after kicking the game-winning 44-yard field goal in Week 7 to beat the Vikings.
According to the Lions PR team, this was just the second time in history that the Lions have had three different special teams players win the award in the same season, the other coming back in 1993. Additionally, Raymond joins Terry Fair as the only other non-punter/kicker to win the award more than once in their careers.
In addition to the special teams Players of the Week, Jared Goff earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4. Then, coming off the bye, Brian Branch claimed NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors behind a three-turnover performance against the Cowboys in Week 6.
I wonder which Lion will take home Player of the Week honors in Week 9?
