Sometimes, the football gods can be cruel. As Dolphins fans, we waited for four games (and five total weeks) for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to return to play after his latest concussion issue. If only the offense could get back to form, with the way the Dolphins defense had been playing, this team could really go on a run…
Well, the offense did return to form thanks to Tagovailoa’s return, but because this franchise is cursed, Miami’s defense played one of their worst games of the season and cost the team a victory as the Dolphins fell to the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 28-27 on a last second field goal off the foot of kicker Chad Ryland.
We’ll look to find a silver lining in the Dolphins performance on Sunday as we award one player the MVP (Most Valuable ‘Phin) designation for the contest.
Miami Dolphins Week Eight MVP – De’Von Achane
Second year running back De’Von Achane returned to his electric form on Sunday against Arizona — tallying 10 rushing attempts for 97 yards (9.7 yards per carry average) while adding six receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown through the air. It was his highest rushing yards mark of the season — besting his week two performance by a single yard.
With Tagovailoa under center, look for more of the same from Achane this Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Will it be enough to deliver the Dolphins a win? Let’s be honest — probably not — but at least it should make his fantasy football owners happy.
