And it could be bad for the Vikings

Ahead of their matchup with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football this week, the Indianapolis Colts are making a change that could, potentially, be bad news for the purple.

Numerous sources are reporting that the Colts are going to bench last year’s #4 overall pick, quarterback Anthony Richardson, in favor of long-time veteran Joe Flacco for this week’s game.

Richardson has had issues with injuries this year, and in the Colts’ loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday he put on a pretty brutal performance. He completed just 10-of-32 passes on the afternoon for 175 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. The pick was particularly bad because it came deep in Colts’ territory with less than 30 seconds left in the first half and led directly to a Houston touchdown.

Flacco has appeared in four games for the Colts this season with two starts. So far, he’s completed almost 66% of his passes and a 7-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. The Colts have gone 1-1 in the two games he’s started.

Obviously, Flacco doesn’t present nearly the athletic threat that Richardson does behind center, but what he does give the Colts is a veteran presence and a guy who has seen almost everything there is to see in the NFL. You could make a pretty convincing argument that it would have been much more beneficial for the Vikings to face Richardson instead given what Brian Flores has done to a bunch of young quarterbacks already this season.

But unless Joe Flacco gets hurt before Sunday or during Sunday’s game, the Vikings won’t be seeing Anthony Richardson at U.S. Bank Stadium.

How does this make you feel about the Vikings’ chances on Sunday, folks?
