Exactly what led to the move is unclear
Deonte Banks, whose effort has been questioned a number of times this season, appeared to be benched by the New York Giants in the second quarter of Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Banks, who did not appear to suffer an injury, was replaced by Greg Stroman for the final two defensive series of the first half.
ESPN did not show, or mention, anything about what may or may not have happened with Banks.
Banks did miss a tackle when Pittsburgh’s Najee Harris leaped over him as he went low.

Banks responded with the big hit to force incompletion in the end zone, but did not get a snap on that most recent defensive series.

There was a play earlier in the drive when Banks did not break down and tackle correctly, Najee Harris leaped over him for a big gain, and Brian Daboll was gesturing loudly for Banks to stay up and tackle properly

A week ago, Banks, the Giants’ 2023 first-round pick, gave up on a play and allowed Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts to gain extra yardage. Earlier in the season, defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson was not happy with Banks’ effort on a 55-yard touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb of the Dallas Cowboys.
We will see if Banks plays in the second half, and we will have more on whatever took place here after the game.
