Can the Steelers get the win at home against the Giants?
Wrapping up the Week 8 slate and putting us officially around the halfway mark of the NFL season will be the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants. The Giants at 2-5 will travel to the 5-2 Steelers who will be starting Russell Wilson at quarterback for a second consecutive game.
Last week, the Steelers made the somewhat controversial decision to start Wilson over Justin Fields who had been playing well in a new environment. However, Wilson won the job in training camp and after getting healthy, head coach Mike Tomlin made the decision to go with the veteran quarterback. The decision worked out as Wilson had 264 yards and two touchdowns in his Steelers debut. He’ll look to keep that momentum going against the Giants.
Every passing week, the Giants continue to regret the Daniel Jones contract. The Giants sit at 2-5, but Jones remains inconsistent at the quarterback position. They’ve invested in the offensive line and may have one of the worst units in the NFL. The Giants play teams close, but more times than not, it just hasn’t been enough.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Steelers are 5.5-point favorites at home against the Giants. That’s to be expected with the Steelers coming off of a big win last week against the Jets while the Giants have scored 10 points in the last two weeks combined. The Steelers defense hasn’t been as good as it has been over the last few years, but it’s still hard to see the Giants getting a lot going on that side of the ball. I’ll take the Steelers and the points in this one.
The Pick: Steelers (-5.5)
Season Record: 11-14
