The Miami Dolphins could elevate receiver Dee Eskridge from the practice squad one more time.
The Miami Dolphins are navigating another wave of injuries. Wide receiver Dee Eskridge was promoted from Miami’s practice squad to the 53-man roster following Braxton Berrios’s season-ending ACL injury in last Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. The team also placed quarterback Tyler Huntley on injured reserve and signed defensive tackle Matt Dickerson to the practice squad.
Eskridge signed to Miami’s practice in late August and was elevated for two games since joining the Dolphins. He’s played 22 snaps out wide and three in the slot, catching his lone target for 30 yards.
Huntley injured his throwing shoulder last Sunday and is now on injured reserve, meaning he’ll be out for at least four games. Teams can designate up to eight plays for return from injured reserve throughout the season.
Tua Tagovailoa is expected to be activated from injured reserve in time for Sunday’s game, with Skylar Thompson or Tim Boyle likely serving as his backup. Additionally, former 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard joined Miami’s practice squad earlier this week.
Miami added Dickerson as depth on the defensive line after Zach Sieler, anchor for Miami’s in the trenches, was added to the injury report with an eye issue on Thursday. NFL Network reported that he fractured an orbital bone during practice, and will not play against the Arizona Cardinals.
Dickerson has appeared in 36 games over his six-year NFL career, recording 42 tackles and three sacks while playing for the Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons, and Kansas City Chiefs.
