Brian Daboll non-committal on starter for Week 8
Will Josh Ezeudu remain the starting left tackle for the New York Giants this Monday against the Pittsburgh Steelers? Head coach Brian Daboll wasn’t willing to commit one way or the other on Wednesday.
“We’ll go ahead and go through our normal procedure, and then see where we’re at the end of the week,” Daboll said.
The coach did admit that Ezeudu, who surrendered drive-stalling sacks on two of the Giants’ first three possessions Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, will get first crack at first-team reps this week.
Veteran offensive tackle Chris Hubbard, signed off the San Francisco 49ers practice squad last week, will also get a look with the first team.
“He’ll get reps today there, and we’ll see where we’re at,” Daboll said.
The Giants brought veteran left tackle D.J. Humphries, a 2016 first-round pick by and nine-year starter for the Arizona Cardinals, in for a workout this week. Coming off a Week 17 torn ACL in 2023, the Giants did not immediately sign Humphries.
“Nothing on the horizon right now,” Daboll said. “I think he’s a good football player. If it’s the right fit then we’ll work something out. If it’s not then we won’t.”
