The Raiders defensive tackle’s contract and skills are perfect for Cincinnati.
The Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive line is coming around, thanks to the return of Sheldon Rankins and the reemergence of Sam Hubbard.
But it’s still not a strength of the team.
That’s why ESPN’s Ben Solak thinks the Bengals should trade for Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Adam Butler before the trade deadline.
Here’s what Solak wrote:
If the Bengals are indeed adding at the trade deadline, it must mean they’re making a playoff push … which must mean their run defense needs immediate reinforcements. Enter Butler, who is on a cheap one-year deal and is good for 40 or so snaps per game with some splashy run defense. Exactly what the doctor ordered.
Indeed, Butler is only set to get paid $1.1 million this year, carrying a cap hit of just $1.9 million. Plus, he has 22 career sacks rushing from the interior. Now just imagine putting him next to Trey Hendrickson.
If only the Bengals had a guy like Butler on Sunday, when they have to face Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles’ potent ground attack.
