A look at 2023 draft class in loss to Rams
Let’s look at how the Las Vegas Raiders’ 2023 draft class in a 20-15 Week 7 loss at the Los Angeles Rams and what to expect going into a Week 8 home game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Eight of the nine players from the draft class are currently on the roster. The Raiders cut third-round pick Byron Young and he was claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles. He was inactive in Week 1.
Tyree Wilson:
The No. 7 overall pick had a third straight quiet game after he had a strong performance in Week 4. He backup played 55 percent of the snaps and had one tackle against the Rams. He has five tackles in six games. The light just isn’t coming on consistently for Wilson.

Michael Mayer:
The second-round pick from Notre Dame was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list last week and he will miss, at least, two more games. He has already been out for three games. He has four catches for 21 yards this season.
Tre Tucker:
He played a career high 95 percent of the snaps for the second straight game. He had three catches for three catches for 36 yards on eight targets against the Rams. He had no catches in Week 6.. With Davante Adams traded, the Raiders will be relying on Tucker. He must respond with better consistency.
Jakorian Bennett:
The fourth-round pick played 80 percent of the snaps. He missed some time because of injury, but he returned.
Aidan O’Connell:
The fourth-round pick started his second game of the season and the 12th of his career. But he broke his thumb in the first quarter and will reportedly miss 4-6 weeks while he is on the injured reserve. He is eligible to return in Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He should be the starter when he is healthy.
Chris Smith:
The fifth-round safety from Georgia played a season-low 57 percent of the snaps on special teams. He’s played on defense just once this season.
Amari Burney:
Burney didn’t play any snaps on defense and has played a total of 20 defensive snaps .this season He did play 23 defensive snaps on special teams against the Rams.
Nesta Jade Silvera.
The seventh-round pick didn’t play on defense for the first time all season in Week 7/ He played seven snaps on defense and he was cut Monday.
Conclusion:
Frankly, the Raiders need more from this group moving forward.
