4 games in a row! Another Detroit Lions player takes home Player of the Week honors.
For the fourth straight week, the Detroit Lions have had a player win NFC Player of the Week honors.
In Week 3, coming off a game against the Arizona Cardinals, Jack Fox won NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, then in Week 4, Jared Goff earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against the Seattle Seahawks. Coming off the bye, it was Brian Branch’s turn to claim NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors in Week 6, after his three-turnover performance against the Cowboys. And now, after kicking the game-winning 44-yard field goal in Week 7 to beat the Vikings, kicker Jake Bates has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

After a rocky training camp, Bates has been sensational in the regular season. Through six games, he has successfully made all 10 of his field goal attempts and 20 of his 21 extra point attempts.
Against the Vikings, the Lions had plenty of time to push the ball down the field and try to score a touchdown in the final moments of the game. But instead, once they got into field goal range, they simply ran out the clock and purposefully put the game on Bates to win.
“We felt like his confidence has grown,” coach Dan Campbell said after the game. “He can go out there and get the kick. He did that. Really proud of him really proud of him.”
Despite the pressure of the moment and being in a raucous environment, Bates, nailed the kick and hit his viral dance, as the team celebrated around him as the best team in the NFC.
I wonder which Lion will take home Player of the Week honors in Week 8?
