Tim Bowens is the first person to join the Miami Dolphins Ring of Honor in a decade.
Former Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Tim Bowens will be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor on Sunday. The two-time Pro Bowler will be celebrated at halftime when the team hosts the Arizona Cardinals.
Drafted 20th overall by the Dolphins in 1994, Bowens was named AP Defensive Rookie of the Year, quickly establishing himself as a force in the middle of Miami’s defense. He spent his entire 11-year career with the Dolphins, recording 414 tackles, 22 sacks, and seven forced fumbles, not missing a game until his sixth season.
Bowens is the first inductee since former defensive tackle Manny Fernandez, who was honored on Dec. 21, 2014.
Four facts about the Miami Dolphins Ring of Honor
- Established in 1990, the Miami Dolphins Ring of Honor first inducted team founder Joe Robbie.
- The first players honored were Larry Csonka, Bob Griese, Jim Langer, and Paul Warfield — the team’s first four Hall of Famers.
- 23 players and two coaches, Don Shula and Bill Arnsparger, are in the Ring of Honor.
- Inductees are honored with their jersey numbers, while Shula is recognized by 347 — his NFL record career wins as a head coach.
Bowens now becomes the 24th player to join the honor roll, having made 155 starts across 11 seasons. His consistency and immovable presence in the trenches anchored Miami’s defense for over a decade.
