Has the Clock Begun to Tick Down on the Giants-Daniel Jones Era? | SI.com
When Daboll spoke after the game, it seemed clear he was itching to spill his thoughts. But the Giants head coach has been a master at controlling his postgame emotions, win or lose, and Sunday was no exception. He said nothing was good enough, coaching included.
He also knows that Jones isn’t the guy who will give him that every week, no matter the game plan, no matter how hard Jones works, no matter how hard he tries. Daboll won’t admit to it, but he’s had to tailor his offense around Jones’s limitations, and that’s no way for an offense to be productive. That is why, with each passing week, it’s becoming more and more obvious that the Giants will have to take a completely different approach this offseason at quarterback.

Giants’ lifeless effort vs. Eagles calls everything into question — QB, coach, all of it | The Athletic
Sunday’s lifeless effort calls everything into question. Even with Jones’ limitations, Daboll has failed to conduct a functional offense despite taking over play calling in his third season. The Giants have scored one touchdown in four home games this season. They’ve averaged 7.8 points in their four losses at MetLife Stadium.
The Giants are 2-5 and 0-3 against NFC East opponents. Schoen and Daboll are 1-10 in games against the Eagles and Dallas Cowboys during their three seasons, and that lone win came with the Eagles eventually resting their starters. The Giants are 10-21-1 since their 7-2 start to the 2022 season.
Saquon Barkley’s Giants demolition was thoroughly embarrassing — and historic | New York Post
The 269 rushing yards allowed by the Giants were the most they gave up in a game in nearly 10 years. They allowed 350 yards to the Seahawks on Nov. 9, 2014, a 38-17 loss. The Giants were so feeble on offense that the Eagles knew there was no need to do anything at all in the second half, other than run the ball and eat up the clock — even though their halftime lead was only 14-3. Hurts after halftime threw only four passes, completing two of them for 16 yards.
Brian Daboll: I’ll keep conversations with ownership private | Pro Football Talk
Sunday’s loss dropped the Giants to 2-5 and they’ve scored 10 points over the last two weeks, so 6-11 is looking like it might be a best-case scenario. That led to a question for head coach Brian Daboll on Monday about whether he heard from Mara or co-owner Steve Tisch after Sunday’s loss.
“Yeah, again, we have conversations,” Daboll said. “I know you ask this a bunch, respect it. We have conversations after every game. I’ll keep those conversations private.”
Malik Nabers’ insistence that ‘I was open’ after Giants loss is an attitude Brian Daboll needs to discourage immediately | New York Daily News
Malik Nabers did not need to insist “I was open” in regard to Sunday’s 28-3 loss with 119 yards of Giants offense Brian Daboll should shut this ‘it wasn’t me’ attitude down. But the coach declined to do that today. Instead, he enabled the behavior.
Notes & Stats: Giants vs. Eagles Recap | Giants.com
The 25-point margin of defeat was the fifth largest in Daboll’s three seasons as head coach. The top two were in losses to Dallas and the next three against Philadelphia, including one in the playoffs. The three points tied for the second fewest under Daboll. Last season, they lost 40-0 to Dallas and 24-3 to Seattle.
The Giants’ offense totaled just 119 yards, the fewest under Daboll by 31 yards (150 at San Francisco on Sept. 21, 2023) and their lowest total since they gained 112 yards at Tampa Bay on Sept. 12, 1999.

Giants to sign Armon Watts to 53-man roster | Pro Football Talk
Armon Watts is signing with New York’s active roster off its practice squad. Watts, 28, has appeared in 72 games with 22 starts, including 15 games for the Steelers last year. He’s recorded 8.5 sacks along with seven tackles for loss and 18 QB hits in his career.
The move comes as a Jordan Raanan of ESPN reported other teams were interested in potentially signing Watts off of New York’s practice squad.

Russell Wilson flashes vintage form, and what else we learned in Week 7 | FOX Sports
Pittsburgh finally has a potent passing game. Russell Wilson looked like his old self in his first game starting for the Steelers, and that’s a good thing for head coach Mike Tomlin and his Steelers. Wilson’s 264 passing yards were the most for a Steelers quarterback in his debut in team history. And Wilson’s ability to create explosive plays helped loosen up one of the top defenses in the league in the Jets.
NFL Week 7 Recap: Pittsburgh Steelers 37, New York Jets 15 | PFF
George Pickens was targeted a game-high nine times against the Jets, finishing with five receptions for 111 yards, one touchdown and three first downs. He successfully converted three of his six contested catch opportunities and caught all three of his downfield targets (10 or more yards) for a total of 92 yards and his touchdown.
Varsity & JV: Winners & losers from Steelers Week 7 win over Jets | Behind the Steel Curtain
RB Najee Harris had his second consecutive 100-yard game, and it looks like Arthur Smith is figuring out to just have him run north and south instead of side to side to find yardage. He’s becoming the consistent, big chunk back Pittsburgh was hoping he would be when they drafted him.
