Giants remain winless at MetLife Stadium

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The New York Giants fell to 2-5 with a non-competitive 28-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

The Giants are 0-4 at home this season.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Eagles dominated the Giants. They led 14-3 at the half, and cruised through the second half without ever really being threatened by New York.

Barkley gets the last laugh

How would Giants fans greet Saquon Barkley? With boos, both when he came on the field and the first time he touched the ball.

It was Barkley, though, who ended up with Sunday’s final word.

Barkley answered the booing with a 55-yard run that led to Philly’s first touchdown, a 3-yard Barkley run. He also had runs of 41 and 38 yards. Barkley finished with 17 carries for 176 yards and a touchdown as the Eagles won easily, improving to 4-2 on the season. Barkley was just 13 yards shy of his career high, a 189-yard effort for the Giants in 2022 vs. Washington.

Barkley had 187 total yards of offense. The Giants had just 119 as a team. The Eagles finished with 339 total yards of offense.

Drew Lock time

The Giants replaced quarterback Daniel Jones with Drew Lock trailing 28-3 with 11:26 remaining. Jones finished 14 of 21 for 99 yards passing. He was sacked seven times. Jones had a 10-yard touchdown pass to Theo Johnson negated by offensive pass interference on Johnson.

The Giants have scored one touchdown and 31 points at home this season with Jones at quarterback this season, 7.75 points per game. Jones does not have a touchdown pass at MetLife Stadium this season.

Lock finished 3 of 8 for 6 yards. He fumbled once, though the Giants recovered.

Injuries

  • Special teamer Ty Summers was carted off in the second quarter with an ankle injury.
  • Cornerback Cor’Dale Flott suffered a groin injury one play before a 41-yard touchdown pass by Philadelphia to A.J. Brown. That pass was completed against Flott’s replacement, Nick McCloud.
  • Brian Burns, who entered the game with a groin injury, hobbled his way through the game but played into the fourth quarter.

The Giants will be on the road for a Monday Night Football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10. The Oct. 28 game will kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN.
