LS Casey Kreiter also appeared to be hurt
New York Giants linebacker and special teams player Ty Summers was carted off the field following a 28-yard punt return by Philadelphia Eagles rookie DB Cooper DeJean. Cornerback Cor’Dale Flott has also been ruled questionable with a groin injury after being shaken up on the play prior to the Eagles’ fourth-down touchdown in the second quarter.
Summers suffered an ankle injury on the return and was unable to put any weight on the injured leg, leading to the cart being brought out.
Summers is currently listed as “questionable” as of this writing and we’ll update with more information as soon as it’s available.
Observers also noted that Giants’ long snapper Casey Kreiter may have been hurt on the punt return. He was reportedly slow to get off the ground following the play, and his status is also unknown as of this writing. The Giants have been hit hard by injury on the special teams and are currently without kicker Graham Gano and punter Jamie Gillan. Summers has been a core special teams player for the Giants, and losing Kreiter could be disastrous for the special teams operation.
