RG Kevin Zeitler has been ruled OUT for the Lions vs. Vikings in Week 7, but CB Carlton Davis WILL PLAY

The Detroit Lions have declared their inactives ahead of the Week 7 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

Carlton Davis missed two practices this week, returning on Friday, and while the Lions remained optimistic about his availability, seeing him active for this game is a big sigh of relief for Lions fans.

Kevin Zeitler suffered a groin injury on Thursday, was only able to work with trainers on Friday, and carried a questionable designation into the game. As with most mid-week injuries, Zeitler was unable to recover in time and will miss this game. He will likely be replaced by Kayode Awosika in the starting lineup.

After placing Aidan Hutchinson and Kyle Peko on injured reserve, the Lions made a few roster moves to adjust their roster. They signed EDGE rusher Isaiah Thomas off the Bengals practice squad and defensive lineman Pat O’Connor from their own practice squad, bringing their active roster up to 52 players (they still have an open spot remaining).

Additionally, the Lions elevated EDGE Isaac Ukwu and tight end Shane Zylstra from the practice squad to the game day roster for this game. They will revert back to the practice squad, without having to pass through waivers after the conclusion of the game. This brings the Lions game day roster up to 54 players.

Because the Lions have eight offensive linemen active for Sunday’s game, they are eligible to expand their game-day roster from 47 to 48 players. Therefore, with 54 players on the game-day roster and 48 eligible to play, the Lions need to declare just six players inactive for today’s matchup.

Lions inactives:

  • RG Kevin Zeitler (groin)
  • WR Isaiah Williams
  • TE Parker Hesse
  • LT Giovanni Manu
  • EDGE Isaiah Thomas
  • S Loren Strickland

Vikings inactives:

  • QB Brett Rypien
  • RB Myles Gaskin
  • OT Walter Rouse
  • DL Levi Drake Rodriguez
  • LB Blake Cashman (toe) — Ruled OUT Friday
  • CB Akayleb Evans (hip) — Ruled OUT Friday
  • CB Dwight McGlothern
