Despite only one win this season, the Rams still have about half of the fanbase on board
The Los Angeles Rams are looking for their second win of the season when they play the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, but fans are not ready to say that the team is headed in the wrong direction despite a 1-4 start. In this week’s Rams Reacts fan survey, asking fans how confident they are in the direction of the team, 40% said they were still confident in the direction that L.A. is headed in.
That’s probably about 40% more than the other 60% expected there to be given the Rams struggles on mostly-defense and also-some-offense this season.
However, the Rams are still 6.5-point favorites to beat the Raiders on Sunday according to FanDuel.
In another vote held this week by SB Nation Reacts, the Rams were not a popular answer in the “Which team has been the biggest disappointment so far this season?” question posed to NFL fans. Only 6% voted for the Rams, while the Cincinnati Bengals ran away with the title at 42%.
The 49ers came in second at 30% despite being in first place in the NFC West, the Browns had 11%, and the Jaguars had 9% of the vote.
Are the Rams the biggest disappointment this season? Well, I do think that 1-4 is a lot worse than anyone should have expected coming off of last year’s surprising trip to the playoffs. The Rams addressed the interior of their offensive line in the offseason by signing Jonah Jackson, but unfortunately the health of that unit has been a problem since training camp.
The defensive struggles are not as surprising. L.A. had to replace defensive coordinator Raheem Morris with Chris Shula and the Rams defense is the cheapest in the NFL, as well as being young, inexperienced, and not heavily invested in.
