A win on Sunday will do wonders for the rest of the season.
The Indianapolis Colts return home on Sunday after two straight weeks on the road. Having split the pair, the team is looking to make a run with Anthony Richardson back in the fold. The schedule takes a tough turn, so wrapping this one up against the Dolphins will go a long way. The team also has the ability to rise above .500 for the first time since the season opener. The team has a lot of reason to believe a win on Sunday is possible and will look to capitalize on their advantages.
Anthony Richardson Returns
This is a big one. Richardson is the team’s X-factor. Joe Flacco filled in well, but he isn’t what the team had in mind for its future. The level to which this franchise can rise rests on Richardson’s shoulders. He has missed the majority of three games this season, and his presence is missed on the field. If the Colts wanted short-term reliability, they would ride with Flacco. If they want to reach for a championship, they will go with Richardson through the ups and downs as he continues to develop.
The Colts Return Home
Two weeks away and a season saving win against the Titans, the players and fans alike will be ready to go. The energy of the home crowd at Lucas Oil is crucial. The players feed off it, and it seems to truly propel the defensive to make big plays. Look no further than early against the Steelers as the team made several impressive stops. I expect more of the same in week seven.
The Dolphins are Limping
Tua Tagovailoa is out after suffering another brutal head injury. While you would like opponents at their best to truly gauge where your team is, the Colts can only play whoever is in front of them. (Not like they aren’t dealing with a slew of their own injuries.) The offense hasn’t looked the same with Tyler Huntley running the show. The Colts defense will look to make things difficult and provide the offense with as many opportunities as possible to score.
Yes, the Colts have the perfect game in front of them. Beat a less than 100% healthy team at home to go over .500 on the year. With players returning from injury, they have what they need to pull it off. With the next two weeks at Houston and Minnesota, the time is now. Head to the stadium or sit back and relax at home. It should be a fun one.
