Thursday’s news and updates.
The Philadelphia Eagles issued their second official injury report on Thursday in advance of their Week 7 road game against the New York Giants.
The Eagles listed five players under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: Jalen Carter, Darius Slay, Dallas Goedert, Jordan Mailata, and Eli Ricks.
Carter is a brand new addition to the report. He’s listed with a shoulder issue. Obviously not good if he’s unable to play. The Eagles’ defensive line played well in Week 6. Without Carter, they might not be able to build momentum.
Slay was downgraded to DNP after being limited on Wednesday. Wonder if the Eagles are just trying to get him to Sunday or if he really can’t play this weekend. If Slay doesn’t suit up, it’ll likely be Isaiah Rodgers starting in his place.
Goedert and Mailata are expected to miss multiple games. It’ll be interesting to see if the Eagles put them on injured reserve or not prior to 4:00 PM on Saturday. If they go on IR, they’ll automatically miss at least four games. If they don’t, the Eagles are hoping they’ll be able to return in Week 10 or earlier.
Ricks, now listed with a groin issue, has been a healthy scratch for three games this season. His game action has been limited to eight special teams snaps. With the Eagles looking to open some roster spots, I wonder if Ricks might be headed to injured reserve. Awfully convenient timing! (For the team, not for the player.)
The Eagles listed three players under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: Milton Williams, Oren Burks, and Byron Young.
Williams was upgraded from DNP to limited. Seems like he’s on track to play, which is especially important if Carter is out.
Burks was limited for the second day in a row. Guessing he’ll be able to suit up.
Young is a brand new addition. He’s been a healthy scratch in all five games this season. I wonder if the Eagles might also look to stash him on IR like they might with Ricks. Funny how the bottom of the roster guys happen to get hurt right when the Eagles need to open some spots!
The Eagles listed four players under FULL PARTICIPATION: Jalyx Hunt, Albert Okwuegbunam, Sydney Brown, and Ainias Smith.
Hunt was upgraded from limited to full go. The rookie will be ready to play.
Albert O and Brown seem like contenders to be activated ahead of Sunday’s game. The Eagles need to clear spots to make room for them on the active roster.

NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT (THURSDAY)
The big news is that Malik Nabers was upgraded to full participation. It looks like he’s on track to play against the Eagles. Though it is interesting that a “groin” designation was added next to Nabers’ name. Seems like he tweaked something in practice.
Brian Burns and Dexter Lawrence missed practice for the second day in a row. But they’ve both said that they expect to play on Sunday. Seems like they could be operating at less than 100%.
Veteran cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, who’s been a role player for the Giants this year, was a new addition to the injury report with a neck issue. He didn’t practice.
Giants starting left tackle Andrew Thomas was removed from the injury report since he was officially placed on injured reserve.
