Raiders coach reacts to huge news of the week
It was just more than two years ago that Davante Adams walked into the Las Vegas Raiders’ swanky Henderson, Nevada to an excited, warm welcome after his blockbuster trade from the Green Bay Packers.
Adams’ time in Las Vegas ended up being much short and much less successful than expected and he was out the door this week as he was traded to the New York Jets for pennies on the dollar of what the Raiders paid for him and with just 15 wins with him the field.
Davante Adams on his trade request and conversations with the Raiders: “I don’t want the helpless feeling … I want to feel like I can impact the game every time I touch the field.
Said he felt like too many things needed to go right for him to be successful in the Raiders…

Yet, because is a strange week in team history, Wednesday was still somehow a day of celebration in Henderson.
Leave to Tom Brady to ease the pain of losing a player like Adams.
Just as Adams was in 2022, Brady was given a hero’s welcome as he began his time as a member of the Raiders’ organization Wednesday.

Tuesday, hours after the Adams’ trade, NFL owners approved Brady become a minority owner of the Raiders. It’s clear his voice will be welcome in Las Vegas.
As the Raiders turn to their preparation for their Week 7 game at the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, coach Antonio Pierce met reporters and was asked about the week’s events.
On Adams, Pierce said the team has a next man up mentality and he reminded the players they were without Adams for the past three games because of a hamstring injury. The Raiders were 1-2 in that stretch.
“We didn’t have him the last few weeks. We’re fine.” Pierce said. “You’re never going to replace an All-Pro receiver like Davante, but at the end of the day, we’re not trying to. We’re trying to the best versions of ourselves.”
Pierce said he was “proud” that Brady is now part of the organization and he has the ultimate respect for the GOAT.
As the Raiders say goodbye to a foundation player, they hope for better times as the Brady era begins.
