But the secondary got burned late.

Below, we analyze the snap counts and stats on defense for the Cleveland Browns’ Week 6 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

  • DL: Myles Garrett looked like a man on a mission, even though he didn’t notch a sack against Jalen Hurts. He was the top graded defensive played by PFF, grading out to an 86.4. I’m not sure if that includes the blocked field goal that kept Cleveland in the game. Mike Hall made his season debut, and Maurice Hurst returned to action, with veteran Quinton Jefferson being inactive.
  • LB: For the second week in a row, the Browns’ linebackers played very well. Mohamoud Diabate returned to action from injury, and Jim Schwartz decided to give him a key role, playing the most snaps of his career. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (75.3), Diabate (77.7), and Devin Bush (75.9) all received good grades from PFF.
  • CB: The secondary continues to underachieve. I thought they played solid for a good amount of the game, but Martin Emerson was beat for another touchdown, Denzel Ward was limited by his injury again, and Greg Newsome was beat for two big passing plays.
  • S: After a couple of poor defensive grades for Rodney McLeod, he graded out to a 77.8 against the Eagles, second best on the team. I still don’t think that includes his return for a touchdown off of the blocked field goal. He and D’Anthony Bell played the whole game.
