An active roster spot for Thomas.
In the wake of losing star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson to a broken tibia, the Detroit Lions signed a defensive end from the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad.
#Lions plan to sign defensive end Isaiah Thomas off the Bengals practice squad, per source. Former Browns draft pick gives Detroit some much-needed edge rush help.

Detroit signed defensive end Isiah Thomas from the Bengals practice squad Tuesday as they look to fill the void left by Hutchinson. His production will be hard to replace, as he was a bona fide Defensive Player of the Year candidate.
Thomas has not been active this season after joining Cincinnati after his first two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, who selected him in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Thomas saw some game action with Cleveland in 2022 before spending the entire 2023 season on their practice squad.
In fact, Thomas’ only career sack was for Cleveland in 2022 when he sacked Joe Burrow during what Bengals fans call “The Halloween Massacre.”
As of now, the Bengals have not made a move in reaction to Thomas being signed away.
