The Bengals won’t have to face Cooper in Cleveland.
The Cincinnati Bengals won’t have to face Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper when they take on the Cleveland Browns this week.
According to FOX reporter Jordan Schultz, the Browns are trading Cooper to the Buffalo Bills. So the Bengals secondary won’t have to worry about defending Cooper when the two teams face off in Cleveland on Sunday.
This comes as the Browns offense has fallen off a cliff, failing to reach 20 points in a game this season. They’re the only NFL team with that abysmal distinction.
Cooper has consistently been among the best NFL receivers since entering the league in 2015, recording seven seasons of 1,000+ yards. However, he’s been held to just 250 yards and two touchdowns on 24 catches (53 targets) this season.
This is great news for a struggling Bengals defense that is coming off its best performance of the season in a win over the New York Giants. Cooper was easily the Browns’ best offensive player, but he’s now headed to a Bills team that is not on the Bengals’ regular season schedule.
The Amari Cooper trade will be a pick swap with a 3rd round pick going to Cleveland, per sources. https://t.co/tuAhj1PDuV
