The Eagles came out of the bye to beat the Browns and improve to 3-2. While the win itself was far from convincing, there are some key takeaways that should excite Eagles fans. Namely, the rookie cornerbacks.
Quinyon Mitchell: A
I was so close. SO close to being right about Quinyon Mitchell snagging his first interception. However, an errant CJ Gardner-Johnson sort of ruined that opportunity. Besides that, Mitchell was awesome as we’ve expected him to be. He held up against a talented group of Browns receivers and barely allowed anything thrown his way. It’s safe to say, Quinyon Mitchell is a star.
Cooper DeJean: A
Speaking of stars, Cooper DeJean might be one too. In his first action at cornerback, Cooper DeJean was awesome. He looked great covering the slot while contributing as a blitzer and run defender. His size and athleticism are a huge upgrade over Avonte Maddox at this stage and it was immediately evident. His versatile skill set gives Vic Fangio a really exciting chess piece to play with for the coming weeks.
The Rest
- The rest of the Eagles rookies mostly got their snaps on special teams with no plays of consequence.
