Chase Brown appears to be RB1, while Joseph Ossai managed to out-snap Sam Hubbard.
The Cincinnati Bengals did just enough to pick up their second win of the season, a 17-7 road win over the New York Giants.
Tight end and running back continue to be the most intriguing positions on the Bengals offense.
Versatile rookie Erick All’s 23 snaps were second to Drew Sample’s 26, but All ‘s two catches on three targets were the only production the position saw in the passing game. Gesicki came in third with 19 snaps, and Tanner Hudson got four reps.
Chase Brown appeared to be RB1. He had the first touch of the night and took 33 snaps to Zack Moss’s 24. The running game struggled to get going until the final drive. Consistency was lacking, but Chase’s few nice runs led to respectable numbers.
The Bengals took some heat for activating Trenton Irwin over Jermaine Burton this week, but the move had little impact on the game. Irwin took three snaps of offense, which is about what Burton had been getting. If you are wondering if he was active for special teams value, he was not. He did not take a single special teams snap.
Bengals fans can breathe a sigh of relief. After leaving the game early last week, first-round pick Amarius Mims played every snap against the Giants.
BJ Hill balled out, playing 55 snaps on the defensive interior. Sheldon Rankins added 42. Rookies Kris Jenkins (39) and McKinnley Jackson (21) were also major contributors to a unit that looked much improved.
On the edge, Trey Hendrickson led the way with 47 snaps. In an interesting development, Joseph Ossai’s 40 snaps were actually one more than Sam Hubbard’s 39. Myles Murphy added 32 to a strong rotation,
With Dax Hill sideline, DJ Turner and Cam Taylor-Britt each took all but one defensive snap against the Giants. Linebacker Logan Wilson was the only player to take all of the defensive snaps.
Despite his struggles throughout the season, Geno Stone continues to take nearly every defensive snap (99% this week), while Vonn Bell (84%) gave up some reps to Jordan Battle (18%).
