The Bengals head coach commended the unit for shutting out the criticism and showing up to play.
Zac Taylor didn’t take the Sunday night win over the New York Giants for granted.
The Cincinnati Bengals head coach said the Giants are a “tough” team that “make you earn everything.”
And so, he was more than grateful for a defense that was able to stay focused and put together a winning performance.
“Defense, you’ve had to listen to a lot of crap, right, over the last couple weeks,” Taylor said. “All you guys did was stick together, work your tails off.” He then said the entire defense gets a game ball, but went out of his way to honor Lou Anarumo by tossing him a game ball.
Claps and smiles ensued as the defensive coordinator was redeemed in his return to New York, where he was the defensive backs coach before Taylor brought him to his staff.
Game balls were also given to Tycen Anderson for his heroic efforts on special teams, Trey Hendrickson for his relentless pursuit of QB Daniel Jones, and BJ Hill and Germaine Pratt for their QB hit-interception one-two punch.
