Vikes Views: Is the NFCN the Best Division in Football?

Through the first six weeks the NFCN is a combined +211 point differential. The Vikings lead the way with 63 more points scored than their opponent, but the remainder of the division is no slouch. The NFC North makes up the entirety of the top 4 point differential teams. I am always one to say nothing is as black and white as it seams. Let’s take a look at each team.

Minnesota Vikings (5-0) – The Vikings have beat San Francisco, Houston and Green Bay. All three were playoff teams last year and look to be this year as well. Houston’s only loss is to the Vikings and it was decisive. The just beat the Jets and forced Aaron Rodgers worst game ever as a professional. The defense is stout. It’s fair to question if Darnold will be able to lead this team to the playoffs, but it’s clear no one wants to face this team.

Detroit Lions (4-1) – The Lions should’ve went to the Super Bowl last year. They’ve picked up where they left off. They dismantled Dallas yesterday. They’ve also beat the Rams, Cards and Seahawks, which aren’t the easiest teams in the world. Tampa is their lone defeat. The Lions and Vikings have played a tough schedule and continued to win. Two very solid teams.

Chicago Bears (4-2) – The Bears are the paper tiger of the group. They’ve beat 4 one win teams and lost to the Colts and the Texans. Titans, Jags, Panthers and Rams aren’t very impressive wins. They’ve taken care of business with their rookie QB, however, they will be tested more in the 2nd half of the season. I am predicting a losing record.

Green Bay Packers (4-2) – The last place Packers would miss the playoffs if they started today. The first two weeks of the season they lost to the Eagles and barely beat the Colts. They’ve played better since then. Easily winning against the Titans, Cards and Rams they are taking care of business. They had a bad first half against the Vikings, but they came back strong to make it close. Jordan Love is really good when he is on. Some more consistency from them and this team could be good. There is potential, but I don’t see the complete team needed to compete in this division.

Bottom line is this division is good. It’s historically good in point differential. The NFL is known for parity and it’s rare to see this level of dominance. It’s early and we’ll see if they can continue at this pace.
