Raiders-Steelers what they’re saying: New game, new quarterback, same old Raiders

Raiders-Steelers what they’re saying: New game, new quarterback, same old Raiders

With another multi-possession loss, the Raiders’ season is quickly spiraling out of control

While the Las Vegas Raiders made a few changes from last week, the Raiders seemed to follow the same script during their Week 6 32-13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Las Vegas swapped out Gardner Minshew for Aidan O’Connell and the results were no different than last weekend in Denver. The Raiders’ offense got out to a hot start, putting together a 10-play, 70-yard touchdown drive where the team never even saw a third down. However, a collection of three-and-outs, three turnovers (two fumbles and an interception) and a blocked punt followed.

O’Connell finished the game by completing 27 of 40 passes for 227 yards and a garbage-time touchdown—in addition to the pick—to put up a respectable stat line, but the difference between his and Minshew’s impact on the offense was minimal at best.

On the other side of the ball, tackling issues continue to plague the defense. That was no more evident than on Najee Harris’ 36-yard score that could have easily gone for a short gain. Instead, after a few whiffs by several different defenders, Harris pretty much put the game on ice by giving Pittsburgh a two-possession lead at the end of the third quarter.

Granted, part of the defense’s issues is playing with an offense that can’t hold up its end of the bargain. The Steelers didn’t take the lead or score their first touchdown until the end of the first half; when they started with a short field after Dylan Laube’s fumble. That’s another frustrating common theme throughout the season.

Raider Nation has just about seen enough as the post-game responses on X/Twitter show many people are already thinking about next season.

A 2-4, it’s feeling like the playoffs are more than a longshot.

This sums up the difference in the offense.

New year, same team.

Would Kliff Kingsbury make this team better?

Jack Jones weighs in on the loss…

The Raiders account said the team fell short. True, 19 points short…

Maxx Crosby says there was nothing malicious behind this push with a coach, a love tap, if you will.

Crosby’s thoughts after the game.

Antonio Pierce is, rightfully, taking criticism for not challenging a play that could have been a touchdown by Ameer Abdullah. Instead, the Raiders ran hurry up and Abdullah fumbled the next play. Pierce’s explanation is below.

Laugh the pain away?

The facepaint in the stands is looking different so far this season…

Every year…
