Everything you need to know to watch the nearly nationally-televised game between the Lions and Cowboys.
2013.
That’s the last time the Detroit Lions defeated the Dallas Cowboys. That game was an instant classic and one that Lions fans will never forget. The Matthew Stafford fake spike game that included a 329-yard performance from Calvin Johnson, combined with another 92 rushing yards via Reggie Bush. A 24-point fourth quarter helped the Lions overcome 27-17 deficit with under seven minutes remaining.
Since then, it’s been rough sledding for the Lions. The very next matchup was the infamous Wild Card matchup that ended in pass interference controversy. And in the following five regular season matchups, it’s been all Cowboys.
But for this matchup, the only one that is likely still on the mind of Lions players is the 2023 matchup. Detroit appeared to have taken the lead late for a huge upset, but officials identified the wrong eligible lineman, and Taylor Decker’s go-ahead two-point conversion reception was deemed illegal touching.
This week, the Lions have downplayed the revenge angle of this game. And to their point, this game is important enough. The Cowboys are an NFC contender, and the Lions don’t want to fall another game behind the division-leading Vikings.
Lions vs. Cowboys will be nearly a nationally-televised game, as it has drawn the No. 1 FOX crew. Yes, this will be the Lions’ debut on a Tom Brady-commentated broadcast.
