We simulated Bengals vs. Giants in Madden to try to predict the outcome of the Week 6 game.
The Cincinnati Bengals put together a mostly great performance against the Ravens, but they fell apart towards the end.
With that loss, the Bengals are in a tough situation as they head out to face the Giants, which should be a very winnable game. If the defense can put together a string of decent performances, then the Bengals could get themselves back in this season.
Let’s see how Madden predicts this game will go for the Bengals.
The Giants start with the ball, and the Bengals’ defense gets off to the hot start they needed, stopping the Giants around the 50-yard line. The Bengals receive the ball and drive down the field, and it doesn’t take too long before Burrow hits Chase Brown for a 35-yard touchdown.
Bengals: 7 – 0
The Giants receive the ball and are stopped quickly again, the Bengals defense stepping up. The Bengals get the ball pinned at the ten, and after a sack, the Bengals are in a tough position after Burrow takes a sack on second down. He ends up getting sacked on third down as well, giving up safety. Following the safety, the defense finally gives up some points as the Bengals drive down the field for a field goal.
Bengals: 7 – 5
Following the Giants touchdown, the Bengals want to put in the effort to make it a two-possession game again and drive down the field. On third and goal, Joe Burrow is instantly pressured, but he is able to roll out of the pocket and hit Tanner Hudson for a touchdown.
Bengals: 14 – 5
The Giants are able to drive down the field following the Bengals touchdown, with under a minute left in the quarter they end up having to take a field goal following a sack of Daniel Jones.
Bengals: 14 – 8
The Bengals have enough time to put some points on the board before halftime, and they don’t slouch. On a scramble, Joe Burrow gets inside the five with less than five seconds left, but with no timeouts left, they don’t take the chance and take a field goal, extending their lead.
Bengals: 17 – 8
In a bizarre turn of events, with less than five seconds left, the Giants take a hail mary pass and for even more baffling reasons, the Bengals have pass interference called, and the Giants are able to take and make a field goal, closing the gap for the lead.
Bengals: 17 – 11
The Bengals start with the ball with a chance to keep their comfortable lead, but they are unable to, being forced to punt. The Giants take advantage of this opportunity, driving down the field and punching in the touchdown with Devin Singletary to take the lead.
Giants: 18 – 17
The Bengals need to get their heads back in the game, and they do just that, driving down the field and finally punching in for a touchdown on a pass to Ja’Marr Chase. They go for two and end up getting it, making it a full seven-point lead.
Bengals: 25 – 18
The Giants receive the ball and waste absolutely no time tying the game up. Just after getting past the forty, Daniel Jones uncorks a long pass, which Jalin Hyatt is able to secure in the back of the end zone.
Tied: 25 – 25
The Bengals receive the ball and drive down the field, however the drive ends up stalling out. Leaving Daniel Jones just enough time to come back and score, the Bengals take a field goal and the lead.
Bengals: 28 – 25
Daniel Jones takes advantage of the time left against a weak Bengals defense and is able to get into the red zone with over a minute left. He does not realize how big of a mistake it would be to leave Joe Burrow too much time, though, as he hits Jalin Hyatt for his second touchdown, and the Giants take the lead.
Giants: 32 – 28
The Bengals have just under a minute left, and yet they still manage to score too fast as they drive down the field and hit Ja’Marr Chase for a touchdown. After Chase’s incredible catch, Jones still has 30 seconds to drive down the field and get the field goal for overtime.
Bengals: 35 – 32
Unfortunately for the Bengals, their defense is not able to hold up as the Giants are barely able to get into field goal range. They line up for the field goal for a second time following a Zac Taylor icing attempt, and it is dead center to force overtime.
Tied: 35 – 35
The Bengals receive the ball in overtime and drive down the field. They clearly don’t want to let their defense back on the field. When getting into the red zone, the offense seems to stall, getting into a third and two with the game potentially on the line. With the pressure on, Joe Burrow is able to hit Mike Gesicki in the corner for what is initially ruled out of bounds.
On review, though, the Bengals tight end got both of his feet down, securing the key win they needed.
Bengals: 41 – 35
