No corresponding move has been made yet
With their bye week about to come to an end, the Minnesota Vikings have made a roster move along their defensive front that might be a bit of a head-scratcher.
The team has announced that they have waived defensive lineman Jalen Redmond. The move leaves them a bit thin on the defensive line with just five players on the current roster at the position.
Redmond signed with the Vikings after a short but successful stint in the United Football League during the spring. He played well for the Arlington Renegades and managed to parlay that into a spot with the Vikings. In a bit of a surprise, he made the 53-man roster coming out of camp and appeared in two games for the team this season, collecting a sack in the team’s victory over the Houston Texans back in Week 3.
With Redmond’s departure, the Vikings’ defensive line room looks like this:
- Jonathan Bullard
- Harrison Phillips
- Levi Drake Rodriguez
- Taki Taimani
- Jerry Tillery
Rodriguez has been inactive for all five of the Vikings’ games this year, so the Vikings haven’t been rolling with a lot of depth on the defensive line on game days. Still, with Redmond no longer on the squad, they could probably use someone at that spot in case anything should happen to any of the four main players at the position.
At this point, it is unknown whether or not the team is interested in bringing Tillery back to the practice squad. The Vikings have also not announced a corresponding move to fill his roster spot, but when they do we will have that news for you right here.
