Who do the Rams want to win in Seahawks-49ers Thursday Night Football clash?
As is usually the case when it comes to Thursday Night Football, the matchups can be hit or miss. However, this week, the Seattle Seahawks will host the San Francisco 49ers in a highly anticipated and very important NFC West clash.
Coming into the game, the Seahawks are 3-2 and lead the division, but are coming off of a disappointing loss at home to the New York Giants. On the other side, the 49ers appear to be suffering from a Super Bowl hangover as they are 2-3 and just lost to the Arizona Cardinals after losing a 13-point lead.
This will be a matchup that Rams fans will certainly have eyes on throughout the game. Over the past several years, the NFC West has been one of the better divisions in the NFL. However, this year, the NFC West doesn’t appear that daunting. With the Rams at 1-4, they are still just two games out of first place.
The Seahawks may have three wins this season, but all three came against mediocre teams. In the three wins, they have faced Bo Nix, Jacoby Brissett, and Skyler Thompson at quarterback. Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions put up 42-points while the Giants scored 29 last week.
While the 49ers are 2-3, they have been a victim of bad luck. Both division losses have come after holding 10+ point leads in the fourth quarter. The third loss came against a red-hot Vikings team. Despite the 49ers losing, this may be Brock Purdy’s best season to date. The 49ers will need him if they want to stay alive and not fall to 0-3 in the NFC West.
Sitting at 3-2 atop the NFC West with a primetime home game against the 49ers on deck, the Seahawks could not be sitting more pretty. They have a chance to take early control of the division. A win would give them an early tiebreak and put them 2.5 games ahead in first place. Geno Smith has been playing well, but it’s the defense that needs to get more consistent.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Seahawks are 3.5-point underdogs at home. That seems almost outrageous for a game in primetime in Seattle. Lumen Field is one of the tougher environments to play in and the division atmosphere in primetime could make things difficult. However, the 49ers will likely be ready to go with their season hopes on the line. The 49ers have one dominant win this season and that was Week 1 against the Jets. This is going to be a high-scoring game and a 3.5-point spread on the road seems big.
The Pick: Seahawks (+3.5)
Season Record: 8-9
