The Bengals defense could be getting reinforcements.
The Cincinnati Bengals defense needs all the help it can get.
Fortunately, the unit might be getting back both defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins and cornerback Mike Hilton this week, as the two returned to practice on Wednesday.
Rankins went down with a hamstring injury in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs after signing with the Bengals in the offseason. The interior defensive linemen’s size is much needed on a front that has struggled to get much of a push.
Hilton, meanwhile, missed last week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with a knee injury. The veteran corner’s potential return could help lift a secondary that has struggled with communication issues.
Incorporating the two veterans back into the defense may help the unit slow down the New York Giants enough to let Joe Burrow and company take over.
We previewed that game and talked about the hot start of the offense with Sophie Ross.
