Taking a peek at how a few former players performed in Week 5
Now that Week 5 in the NFL is in the books, let’s take a look at how a few former players for the Las Vegas Raiders performed.
Derek Carr
- Stats: 18/28, 165 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT
- Game result: 26-13 Saints lose
Carr notoriously struggled against the Kansas City Chiefs during his tenure with the Silver and Black, owning a 3-14 record as the Raiders’ starter against the franchise’s biggest rival. On Monday night, an inexcusable interception on the game’s opening possession where he essentially just threw the ball up in the air like a game of three flies up made its rounds on social media.
Granted, Carr later delivered a nice 43-yard touchdown pass to Rashid Shaheed and a seven-yard score to fellow former Raider Foster Moreau. However, that wasn’t enough to take down Kansas City and Carr suffered an oblique injury late in the contest that will likely sideline him for the Saints’ next two games, per NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo.

Josh Jacobs
- Stats: 19 carries, 73 yards, 1 TD, 1 catch, 21 receiving yards
- Game result: 24-19 Packers win
This game was wild as Green Bay got out to an early lead, then trailed at halftime, retook the lead in the third quarter, and had to fend off the Rams’ fourth-quarter comeback attempt.
As for Jacobs, he had a strong outing by accounting for nearly 100 total yards and the first score of the contest. He currently sits at 402 rushing yards on the season, the fourth-most in the NFL behind Derrick Henry (572), Jordan Mason (536) and Saquon Barkley (435).
Feel like we’ve completely overlooked Josh Jacobs first TD as a Packer…

Mario Edwards Jr.
- Stats: 2 tackles, 1 QB hit, 2 pressures (via Pro Football Focus)
- Game result: 23-20 Texans win
This one is taking it way back as Edwards’ tenure with the organization came exclusively in Oakland. The 2015 second-round pick had a solid performance in Houston’s win over Buffalo, earning a 72.6 grade from PFF.
He’s been a journeyman throughout his career but is going on year 10 which is somewhat surprising since his tenure with the Raiders was filled with injuries, including two stints on injured reserve in three seasons. This season, Edwards has been a starter for Houston and has accumulated 10 total tackles and two sacks through five games.
