The Colts didn’t wait around long to bring back undrafted rookie Spencer Shrader to the team’s practice squad again.
The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that the team has re-signed placekicker Spencer Shrader to the team’s practice squad and waived cornerback Gregory Junior in a corresponding roster move:
We have signed K Spencer Shrader to the practice squad and released CB Gregory Junior from the practice squad.

Regarding Shrader, the former Notre Dame standout shined throughout training camp with the Colts and actually filled in for injured Indianapolis starting kicker, Matt Gay, during the regular season opener against the Houston Texans—when he was 3 for 3 in extra points.
Shrader also went 2 for 2 from field goals in the preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals on the road—including a converted long of 56 yards.
He was released last week, as the Colts re-signed undrafted rookie running back Trent Pennix to their practice squad for extra backfield depth, with Jonathan Taylor’s ankle injury.
Gregory Junior was a former 2022 6th round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who was signed to the Colts practice squad in mid-September, but did not appear in an NFL game for Indianapolis so far this season.
