Will Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs remain undefeated on Monday Night Football
We are back to just one game on Monday Night Football after doubleheaders each of the last two weeks. The Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints will wrap up the Week 5 NFL slate at Arrowhead Stadium. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will be looking to remain undefeated while the Saints will try to get back in the win column.
Heading into their three-peat season, the Chiefs have begun the year an undefeated 4-0 with the help of some close calls that have gone in their favor. Mahomes hasn’t looked like his MVP-level self, but it has been the defense that has come up big when needed most.
On the other side, after starting the year 2-0, the Saints have since dropped each of their last two games. The Saints were looking like one of the best teams in the NFL after the first two weeks, but lost to the Eagles and Falcons by a combined five points. A win for the Saints would give them a three-way tie for first place in the NFC South.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Chiefs are 5.5-point favorites at home against the Saints. Both of these teams have a tendency of playing in close games. All of the Chiefs games this season have been decided by one score while the Saints have played back-to-back one score games in losses. The Chiefs will also be without wide receiver Rashee Rice after he injured his knee last week, which could make things more difficult for a struggling Chiefs offense. While the Chiefs should win this game, I would expect the Saints to keep it close. It’s possible that they lose by a touchdown, but a three-point loss is certainly in the cards. I’ll take the Saints to cover on the road.
The Pick: Saints (+5.5)
Season Record: 8-8
