Notes: What does Dan Campbell do away from football?

Brad Galli of WXYZ Detroit sat down with Lions coach Dan Campbell to talk about several subjects, including what Campbell does away from football.

Back when the NFL schedule first dropped, I think a lot of people surrounding the Detroit Lions let out a collective groan. Early bye weeks, especially for those with championship aspirations like the Lions, are typically not looked at as a positive thing. However, after a 3-1 start to the season, the Lions were a little banged up.

Players like All-Pro center Frank Ragnow and star safety Brian Branch were both nursing injuries that caused them to sit out of the Week 4 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night. Others were dinged up as well, so even most would have preferred a bye week later in the season, nobody was mad about the time off. Even coach Dan Campbell enjoys his time away from the game.

“I love the experience of the theater,” said Campbell to WXYZ’s Brad Galli during an interview from early in September. “As much access as you have at home, I still love being able to go in and get some popcorn, get your Coke, recline the seat.”

Hopefully Campbell and the rest of the Lions coaches, players, and staff were able to catch a movie and get their relaxation in. Now it’s time to get back to work for the next several months as they prep for their Week 5 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys.

You can catch the entire interview with Galli and Campbell below.

And now, onto the rest of today’s notes:

  • If you feel like making the drive to Webberville, Michigan, you can check out an interactive Dan Campbell corn maze. Lions fans are the best.

  • A lot of wallpaper-worthy photos in this collection.

  • His pressure highlight video would have to be close to ten minutes long, right?

  • Prior to the Week 5 slate, Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson had more pressures than several teams.

  • Lions running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs are beginning to have their names spoken in rarified air.
