The safety left the Dolphins’ Week 5 win over the New England Patriots with an apparent hand injury.

The Miami Dolphins beat the New England Patriots on Sunday, but the injury bug continues its 2024 ravishing of the Dolphins’ roster. Running back De’Von Achane left the game with a concussion, placing him in the league’s protocols for a head injury as the team heads into their bye week. While Achane is working his way toward clearance to return, he could be ready to play by the time the team gets back on the field in two weeks. It is another injury that could turn into a bigger deal for the Dolphins.

Safety Jevon Holland left the game in the fourth quarter with a reported hand injury. He was listed as questionable to return by the Dolphins, but he never returned to the game. After the game, Miami Herald columnist Omar Kelly reported Holland’s hand was in a cast and that there was talk of surgery being needed.

Later Sunday night, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport supported Kelly’s initial report, adding that Holland sustained “a broken bone in his hand.”

Holland missed several games last season due to injuries to both of his knees. Depending on the severity of the break and whether surgery is required, he could be out for the next several weeks or even for the remainder of the year.

Jordan Poyer, the other starting safety for Miami, was out Sunday with a shin injury.

Holland had five tackles and a passed defensed against the Patriots prior to leaving the game. He now has 22 tackles, two passes defensed, and a forced fumble this season.
