Sean McVay says Rams ‘will evaluate everything’ after falling to 1-4

Sean McVay doesn’t want to burn the Rams down, but expressed a need to consider all options

Sean McVay gave his routine post-game press conference and he kept it brief, but at one point he found himself saying “we’ll evaluate everything” after a second tough loss in as many weeks. In Week 4 the Los Angeles Rams suffered a deflating defeat to the Chicago Bears, and in Week 5 the Rams suffered another hard outcome by a score of 24-19 to the Green Bay Packers. McVay’s team had chances, but they came up short and the head coach knows all too well that the squad is running out of time to earn the right to play beyond 17 games.

As LA prepares for the bye week it would make sense for them to consider all options given the extended break. The head coach explained:

“We’ll evaluate everything…we’ll observe everything. You know, when you’re in these situations we have to do a good job of making sure that we look at the totality of, you know, everything…regardless of position and make sure that…we’re doing a great job of trying to make sure that we play as good of football as we can with the remainder of the season.”

It would be easy for McVay to express frustration towards the lack of performance but give credit to the head coach for staying steady. He doesn’t appear to be calling anyone out publicly and he continues to express a belief in his process and his team. Eventually there will need to be better results, but the team has two weeks to get themselves together before what should be a winnable game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

McVay says he’s excited for the challenge. What else is he going to say? LA is not in an ideal situation, but with 12 games to play now is not the time to panic. Now is the time for the team to challenge itself to overcome the “storm” that McVay feels they are navigating.

We are not even halfway through the season, and for these players and McVay’s staff there is no going back. The only way out of this stormy season is through.
